This study highlights the role of connexin43 (Cx43) in mediating glia activation and neuroinflammation in glaucoma. Using Cx43 knockout mice, it is shown that macroglial cells‐derived Cx43 modulates microglial activation, proliferation, migration, and polarization.

Retinoid X receptors (RXRs) control a wide variety of functions by virtue of their dimerization with other nuclear hormone receptors (NRs), contributing thereby to activities of different signaling pathways. Interaction of the peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor and retinoid X receptor. [PDF]
The rat peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) was expressed in insect cells and was shown to bind to a cognate PPAR response element (PPRE) from the acyl-CoA oxidase gene. Upon purification, PPAR was no longer able to bind DNA, although binding could be restored by addition of insect cell extracts.

Two retinoic acid (RA) receptors, retinoic acid receptors (RARs) and retinoid X receptors (RXRs), have been identified. All-trans-RA and its 9-cis-isomer are ligands for RARs, but only 9-cis-RA binds RXRs with high affinity.
