Retrograde tracheal intubation [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 2009
Summary Successful management of difficult tracheal intubation by retrograde intubation has been reported for almost 50 years and can be used whether or not it is anticipated. There are numerous reports of variations to the basic technique to enhance reproducibility of this guided blind procedure.

Targeting the KCNC3‐Dependent Anterior Insular‐Lateral Orbitofrontal Cortex Glutamatergic Circuit Attenuates Post‐Traumatic Anxiety

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Frontal lobe traumatic brain injury is associated with hyperactivity of an insular–orbitofrontal circuit in both patients and mice. By combination of integrating functional imaging, cell‐type–specific circuit manipulation, single‐cell transcriptomics, and whole‐cell recordings, this work identifies the downregulation of the potassium channel KCNC3 in ...

A Novel Pak1 Activator Ameliorates ER Stress for HFpEF Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic metabolic stress is a major contributor to HFpEF progression. Under prolonged metabolic stress, Pak1 activity becomes impaired, contributing to disrupted ER proteostasis, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, fibrosis, and diastolic dysfunction. Mechanistically, Pak1 overexpression activates the ERK1/2–MNK1–eIF4E signaling axis, promotes translational ...

PENGARUH PERBEDAAN EKSTRAKSI LIPID TERHADAP GELATINASASI DAN RETROGRADASI TEPUNG MLINJO (Gnetum gnemon) [Effects of Different Lipid Extractions on Gelatinization and Retrogradation of Bitter Nuts (Gnetum gnemon) Starch]

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi dan Industri Pangan, 2004
The effect of different lipid extraction on gelatinization and retrogradation of bitter nuts (Gnetum gnemon) starch was studied by the measurement of starch-lipids complex formation using differential scanning calorimetry.

ATL2 Recruits TRAK1 to Promote Mitochondrial Transport at ER–Mitochondria Contact Sites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mitochondrial transport and distribution are crucial for cellular homeostasis, yet whether and how they are regulated by endoplasmic reticulum (ER)–mitochondria contact sites remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that the ER protein atlastin‐2 (ATL2) orchestrates mitochondrial transport and distribution by promoting assembly of the transport ...

A novel wheat variety with elevated content of amylose increases resistant starch formation and may beneficially influence glycaemia in healthy subjects

open access: yesFood & Nutrition Research, 2011
Previous studies indicate that elevated amylose content in products from rice, corn, and barley induce lower postprandial glycaemic responses and higher levels of resistant starch (RS).

High‐Performance Noble‐Metal‐Free Perovskite Solar Cells Enabled by MoOX/Cr/Al Multilayer Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Cost‐effective perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are developed using a noble‐metal‐free MoOX/Cr/Al multilayer electrode. The devices achieve a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 25.6%, competitive with that of Au‐based devices (26.3%), and a 25.5 cm2 mini‐module shows 21.3% PCE.

Degrees of Post‐Silking Water Deficit Alter the Structural, Pasting, and Gelatinization Properties of Waxy Maize Starch

open access: yesFood and Energy Security
Maize starch is an important source of industrial starch in the world, and its production is seriously affected by water deficit. Waxy maize starch is composed of nearly pure amylopectin, which endows with its high economic value.

Pancreatic Atrophy: A Narrative Review and Surgical Interpretation

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Pancreatic parenchymal atrophy pattern and intraoperative margin assessment guide surgical strategy. ABSTRACT Despite recent advances in multimodal management, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains a fatal malignancy. Early detection of indirect findings of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is essential to improve treatment outcomes, drawing ...

Role of Hydrophilic Colloids in 3D Printing of High‐Moisture and Natural Glutinous Rice Flour Gels: Mechanisms of Retrogradation Inhibition and Stability Enhancement

open access: yesFood Frontiers
Glutinous rice flour paste, ideal for 3D printing due to its strong adhesive and mechanical properties, is limited by its tendency to retrograde. This study demonstrates hydrophilic colloids (guar gum, xanthan gum, and sodium alginate) can effectively ...
