Emergence of Staphylococcus aureus Resistance to Antimicrobial Peptides Nisin, NZ2114 and Bacitracin Involves Multiple Phenotypic Changes

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 82-93, February 2026.
The AMP‐induced mutant Staphylococcus aureus strain nzR showed increased resistance, five gene mutations, and decreased surface anion levels. AMPs affect the NDH‐2 protein encoded by ndh gene inhibiting the growth of S. aureus. The deletion of the ndh gene promotes the development of AMPs resistance.

Mitigating subtherapeutic cabozantinib exposure after prior mitotane therapy in adrenocortical carcinoma: Pharmacological boosting with cobicistat

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 2, Page 606-611, February 2026.
Mitotane is an adrenolytic drug with cytotoxic effects, registered for the treatment of advanced adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), a rare but aggressive tumour type with a poor prognosis despite treatment. Recently, the oral multi‐kinase inhibitor cabozantinib has shown promising results as a potential second‐line treatment option.

Miliary Tuberculosis With Immune Thrombocytopenia in 50‐Year‐Old Ethiopian Woman: A Case Report and Brief Review of Literature

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Diffuse petechiae and non‐palpable purpura (lower extremities below knee, admission photo). ABSTRACT Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a rare but recognized hematologic complication of tuberculosis (TB), particularly miliary TB. A Case Report on Disseminated Mycobacterium avium Complex Infection in an Otherwise Healthy Individual—A Diagnostic Challenge

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Disseminated Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infection can mimic tuberculosis (TB) in immunocompetent individuals, leading to diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Clinicians should consider nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) in patients unresponsive to anti‐tubercular therapy (ATT), especially in endemic regions.

Why a Mycobacterium Avium Infected Patient Showed a Positive Xpert MTB/RIF Result?

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This article discusses whether a MAC‐infected patient with a positive Xpert MTB/RIF test has a co‐infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). The patient presented with chronic, indolent pulmonary patchy shadows on imaging but lacked typical symptoms. The MTB antigen‐specific interferon‐gamma enzyme‐linked immunospot assay (T‐SPOT.TB) was
