Sense- and antisense-mediated resistance against Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV) in Nicotiana benthamiana

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2019
Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV) is the principal causal agent of cassava mosaic disease in the Indian subcontinent. To gain resistance against the virus, the coat protein (CP) gene, namely the AV1 of SLCMV-Adivaram isolate, was cloned in either ...

The type II poly(A)-binding protein PABP-2 is a downstream target of the "let-7" microRNA in the heterochronic pathway of "Caenorhabditis elegans" : mechanisms of microRNA-mediated gene silencing in "Caenorhabditis elegans" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
microRNAs (miRNAs) are a large class of small, non-coding RNAs that post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression in animals, plants and protozoa. miRNAs are genomically encoded and transcribed by RNA polymerase II. Primary transcripts are sequentially

Viral suppression of RNA silencing [PDF]

open access: yesScience China Life Sciences, 2012

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

SiRNA Mediated Gene Silencing: A Mini Review

open access: yesAceh International Journal of Science and Technology, 2012
- RNA interference (RNAi) technology has become a novel tool for silencing gene expression in cells or organisms. RNA interference is the process that double-stranded RNA induces the homology-dependent degradation of cognate mRNA mediated by 21-23 ...

Synergistic effects between analogs of DNA and RNA improve the potency of siRNA-mediated gene silencing

open access: yes, 2010
We report that combining a DNA analog (2?F-ANA) with rigid RNA analogs [2?F-RNA and/or locked nucleic acid (LNA)] in siRNA duplexes can produce gene silencing agents with enhanced potency. The favored conformations of these two analogs are different, and

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus NSs Protein Supports Infection and Systemic Movement of a Potyvirus and Is a Symptom Determinant

open access: yesViruses, 2018
Plant viruses are inducers and targets of antiviral RNA silencing. To condition susceptibility, most plant viruses encode silencing suppressor proteins that interfere with antiviral RNA silencing.

A Novel Epigenetic Silencing Pathway Involving the Highly Conserved 5'-3' Exoribonuclease Dhp1/Rat1/Xrn2 in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2016
Epigenetic gene silencing plays a critical role in regulating gene expression and contributes to organismal development and cell fate acquisition in eukaryotes.

Systemic RNAi mediated gene silencing in the anhydrobiotic nematode Panagrolaimus superbus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background: Gene silencing by RNA interference (RNAi) is a powerful tool for functional genomics. Although RNAi was first described in Caenorhabditis elegans, several nematode species are unable to mount an RNAi response when exposed to exogenous double ...
