Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), an enveloped positive-strand RNA virus in the Arteiviridae family, is a major pathogen affecting pigs worldwide. The membrane (glyco)proteins GP5 and M form a disulfide-linked dimer, which is a

Accessory proteins of the zDHHC family of S-acylation enzymes
Almost two decades have passed since seminal work in Saccharomyces cerevisiae identified zinc finger DHHC domain-containing (zDHHC) enzymes as S-acyltransferases.

This study uncovers a novel mechanism in which p300‑catalyzed lactylation of HMGB1 triggers nuclear export of the HMGB1‐TIAR complex, driving TIAR‐dependent SGs formation in the cytoplasm. Mass spectrometry and mutagenesis reveals that K177 lactylation is essential for this export and subsequent SGs formation.

Putative DHHC-cysteine-rich domain S-acyltransferase in plants. [PDF]
Protein S-acyltransferases (PATs) containing Asp-His-His-Cys within a Cys-rich domain (DHHC-CRD) are polytopic transmembrane proteins that are found in eukaryotic cells and mediate the S-acylation of target proteins. S-acylation is an important secondary

A novel modified SIRT6 variant (dSIRT6) H133Y‐mediated enrichment technique unmasks 15 new human lysine‐myristoylated proteins. Notably, Sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) demyristoylation of activating transcription factor 2 (ATF2) at K296 orchestrates its nucleoplasmic translocation.

S-acylation in plants: an expanding field.
S-acylation is a common yet poorly understood fatty acid-based post-translational modification of proteins in all eukaryotes, including plants. While exact roles for S-acylation in protein function are largely unknown the reversibility of S-acylation ...

Ruminant meat is widely appreciated for its distinctive flavor. Lipids play a central role in influencing meat flavor, yet their genetic and biochemical basis remains largely unexplored. Here, a comprehensive lipid genetic map of sheep muscle is constructed and 20 candidate genes potentially modulating lipid levels are identified to provide a roadmap ...
