Schisandrin B protects against LPS-induced inflammatory lung injury by targeting MyD88

Phytomedicine, 2023
Acute lung injury (ALI) is a challenging clinical syndrome that manifests as an acute inflammatory response. Schisandrin B (Sch B), a bioactive lignan from Schisandra genus plants, has been shown to suppress inflammatory responses and oxidative stress.

The synergistic anti-tumor effect of schisandrin B and apatinib

Journal of Asian Natural Products Research, 2019
The synergistic anti-tumor effect of schisandrin B (Sch.B) and apatinib was investigated in vitro. The CCK-8 assay revealed that Sch.B enhanced the inhibition of apatinib on cell proliferation by arresting cell cycle in G0/G1 phase. Sch.B also potentiated the suppression of apatinib on cell migration and invasion, by means of wound-healing and ...

Schisandrin A and B affect subventricular zone neurogenesis in mouse

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2014
Schisandrin A and B (Sch A and B) are the main effective components extracted from the oriental medicine Schisandra chinensis which is traditionally used to enhance mental and intellectual function. Although their neuroprotective effects have been demonstrated, their influences on neurogenesis are still unknown.

Separation and Purification of Schisandrin B from Fructus Schisandrae

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2008
Schisandrin B (Sch B) is the most abundant and biologically active dibenzocyclooctadiene lignan present in Fructus Schisandrae (FS). It is a highly desirable ingredient for a dietary supplement. While Sch B has been isolated from FS in the laboratory, the experimental procedure was usually lengthy and the yield was relatively low. The objective of this

Schisandrin B and Alantolactone ameliorates experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis in mice

The Journal of Immunology, 2020
Abstract Schisandrin B (Sch-B) and Alantolactone (ALT) are two distinct molecules each of which could be extracted from herbs Schisandra chinensis and Inula helenium, respectively, commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine. Previous studies have revealed that both molecules impact STAT3, Nrf2 and Smad-mediated signaling pathways, and

Schisandrin B Attenuates Colitis-Associated Colorectal Cancer through SIRT1 Linked SMURF2 Signaling

The American Journal of Chinese Medicine, 2021
Colon cancer, a common type of malignant tumor, seriously endangers human health. However, due to the relatively slow progress in diagnosis and treatment, the clinical therapeutic technology of colon cancer has not been substantially improved in the past three decades. The present study was designed to investigate the effects and involved mechanisms of

A novel experimental model of acute hypertriglyceridemia induced by schisandrin B

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2006
Mice were intragastrically treated with single doses (0.05-0.8 g/kg) of schisandrin B (a dibenzocyclooctadiene derivative isolated from the fruit of Schisandra chinensis). Twenty-four hours after schisandrin B administration, the serum triglyceride level was increased by 10-235% in a dose-dependent manner.

In vivo effect of Schisandrin B on cytochrome P450 enzyme activity

Phytomedicine, 2013
To investigate the possible drug interaction, this study is designed to evaluate the ability of Schisandrin B (Sch B) to modulate cytochrome P450 3A activity (CYP3A) in vivo and to alter the pharmacokinetic profiles of CYP3A substrate (midazolam) in treated rats.

Schisandrin B protects PC12 cells against oxidative stress of neurodegenerative diseases

NeuroReport, 2015
Increasing evidence places Schisandrin B (Sch B) at an important position in nerve protection, indicating that Sch B might play a positive role in the therapy of neurodegenerative diseases. However, there is little information on it. Our studies showed that pretreatment with Sch B could reduce lactate dehydrogenase, malondialdehyde, and reactive oxygen

Schisandrin A and B enhance the dentate gyrus neurogenesis in mouse hippocampus

Journal of Chemical Neuroanatomy, 2020
Schisandrin A and B (Sch A and B) are the main effective components of Schisandra chinensis (S. chinensis), which is traditionally used to enhance mental and intellectual functions in eastern Asia. Previously, we reported Sch A and B remarkably affect adult neurogenesis in the subventricular zone of mouse lateral ventricle.
