Phase Separation, Material State, and Condensate Fate in Mammalian Autophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 54, 28 September 2026.
ABSTRACT Biomolecular phase separation has emerged as a key organizing principle in macroautophagy (hereafter autophagy). In mammalian cells, phase‐separated condensates not only serve as substrates for selective degradation, but also act as dynamic platforms for cargo recognition, signaling integration, and autophagosome assembly.

Organelle Crosstalk and Metabolic Reprogramming in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesCell Biochemistry and Function, Volume 44, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fatal interstitial lung disease of unknown cause, marked by excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) components such as collagen. This pathological accumulation results in progressive destruction of the lung architecture and ultimately leads to respiratory failure.

The selective autophagic degradation of avian metapneumovirus subgroup C M2-2 protein via SQSTM1 suppresses viral replication

open access: yesAutophagy Reports
Avian metapneumovirus subgroup C (aMPV/C) is an emerging pathogen that causes acute respiratory infection in chickens and turkeys. Sequestosome 1 (SQSTM1), a selective autophagy receptor, regulates cellular activity or viral replication by recognizing ...

p62/sequestosome 1 in human colorectal carcinoma as a potent prognostic predictor associated with cell proliferation

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2017
p62/sequestosome 1 (p62) is a multi‐domain protein that functions as a receptor for ubiquitinated targets in the selective autophagy and serves as a scaffold in various signaling cascades.

Modulating the Gut‐Microbiota‐Brain Axis in Alzheimer's Disease: Therapeutic Potential of Nutritional and Metabolic Factors

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
This review systematically examines the role of gut microbiota modulation in Alzheimer's disease, focusing on how microbial metabolites and dietary nutrients influence cognitive function and AD pathology, as well as the neuroprotective effects through the gut‐brain axis.

Hyper-phosphorylation of Sequestosome-1 Distinguishes Resistance to Cisplatin in Patient Derived High Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Cells*

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Proteomics, 2017
Platinum-resistance is a major limitation to effective chemotherapy regimens in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). To better understand the mechanisms involved we characterized the proteome and phosphoproteome in cisplatin sensitive and resistant ...

Targeting the GPR183/EBI2‒oxysterol axis in tuberculosis: Immunometabolic regulation and prospects for host‐directed therapy

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
GPR183/EBI2 links oxysterol metabolism with immune‐cell positioning and macrophage function in tuberculosis. The 7α,25‐OHC‐GPR183 axis regulates macrophage trafficking, autophagy and type I interferon responses. GPR183 represents a potential immunometabolic target for host‐directed therapy against tuberculosis..

Aloperine Suppresses Cancer Progression by Interacting with VPS4A to Inhibit Autophagosome‐lysosome Fusion in NSCLC

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Aloperine (ALO), a quinolizidine‐type alkaloid isolated from a natural Chinese herb, has shown promising antitumor effects. Nevertheless, its common mechanism of action and specific target remain elusive.

YOD1/TRAF6 association balances p62-dependent IL-1 signaling to NF-κB

open access: yeseLife, 2017
The ubiquitin ligase TRAF6 is a key regulator of canonical IκB kinase (IKK)/NF-κB signaling in response to interleukin-1 (IL-1) stimulation. Here, we identified the deubiquitinating enzyme YOD1 (OTUD2) as a novel interactor of TRAF6 in human cells.

p62/sequestosome-1 Knockout Delays Neurodegeneration Induced by Drp1 Loss

open access: yesNeurochemistry International, 2017
Purkinje neurons, one of the largest neurons in the brain, are critical for controlling body movements, and the dysfunction and degeneration of these cells cause ataxia. Purkinje neurons require a very efficient energy supply from mitochondria because of
