Challenges in Diagnosing Central Adrenal Insufficiency in Children: Cortisol‐Stimulating Tests are Safe and Often Required

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The accuracy and safety of cortisol‐stimulating tests (CSTs) for assessing hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis integrity, including the diagnosis of central adrenal insufficiency (CAI), in children remain uncertain. Although these tests can simultaneously evaluate cortisol and growth hormone secretion, the present study ...

Shh promotes proliferation and maintenance of RGCs.

open access: yes, 2013
Differentiation experiments were performed during 14 days without addition of EGF or FGF-2. (A) Representative images of immunostaining for Blbp after control or Shh treatment. Close-up view of a RGC stained for Blbp treated with Shh. Bar, 20 µm.

Cortical‐Hypothalamic Assembloids Uncover the Cortical Regulation of Hypothalamic Responses to Fatty Acid

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
By assembling cortical‐hypothalamic circuits, we show that cortical input protects hypothalamic neurons from fatty acid‐induced damage, which activates PGC1α to boost mitochondrial function. This reveals a cortico‐hypothalamic axis that defends against metabolic stress.

Shh signaling in limb development

open access: yes, 2013
Sonic hedgehog (Shh), a secreted signaling molecule, is generated from the posterior limb margin and essential in regulating anterior-posterior (A-P) patterning as well as growth and differentiation of limb mesenchyme.

Duration of Shh signaling contributes to mDA neuron diversity

open access: yes, 2013
Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling is critical for various developmental processes including specification of the midbrain dopamine (mDA) neurons in the ventral mesencephalon (vMes).

Unveiling the molecular profile of adenosquamous gallbladder carcinoma: characterization of a Caucasian cohort

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
GBASCs are MMRp tumours, exhibiting minimal HER2 overexpression and elevated PD‐L1 expression compared to adenocarcinomas. Especially in metastatic and TP53‐wild type tumours, GBASCs can express CLDN18, albeit limited to the glandular component. Their genomic profile resembles that of adenocarcinomas with an enrichment in alterations on PIK3CA, PTEN ...

The Role of Neuropeptide Y in Dental Pulp: Balancing Neurogenic Inflammation and Pain Modulation

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Dental pulp is a densely innervated, low‐compliance tissue in which neurogenic inflammation can rapidly escalate into oedema, raised intrapulpal pressure, microvascular compromise, and pain. While Substance P (SP) and Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP) are well‐established drivers of pulp vasodilation, the Neuroopeptide Y (NPY ...

Medulloblastoma: clinicopathological correlates of SHH, WNT, and non-SHH/WNT molecular subgroups

open access: yes
Medulloblastoma is heterogeneous, being characterized by molecular subgroups that demonstrate distinct gene expression profiles. Activation of the WNT or SHH signaling pathway characterizes two of these molecular subgroups, the former associated with low-
