The Physarum polycephalum Genome Reveals Extensive Use of Prokaryotic Two-Component and Metazoan-Type Tyrosine Kinase Signaling [PDF]
Physarum polycephalum is a well-studied microbial eukaryote with unique experimental attributes relative to other experimental model organisms. It has a sophisticated life cycle with several distinct stages including amoebal, flagellated, and plasmodial

Engineering 2‐Pyrone‐4,6‐Dicarboxylic Acid Production Reveals Metabolic Plasticity of Poplar
ABSTRACT Woody biomass is a promising source of fermentable sugars for biofuels and bio‐based chemicals, but its industrial use is limited by the costly biorefinery process. A viable strategy to reduce costs involves enhancing both biomass processability and the generation of high‐value co‐products.

In Vivo Activity, Purification, and Characterization of Shikimate Kinase from Sorghum [PDF]
Sorghum bicolor stems and shoots were observed to phosphorylate exogenously supplied shikimate, forming a product which could not be distinguished from shikimate 3-phosphate by anion exchange and thin layer chromatography. Upon treatment with phosphatase, this product gave rise to a compound which co-chromatographed with shikimate.Shikimate kinase from

SUMMARY Fruit pigmentation mainly controlled by chlorophyll, carotenoids, and flavonoids is an important phenomenon for fortifying the nutritional and esthetic value of humans. Our previous study identified Pseudo‐Response Regulator 2 (PRR2) as a regulator of fruit pigmentation through its association with the c1 locus.

Purification and properties of shikimate kinase II from Escherichia coli K-12 [PDF]
Shikimate kinase II was purified to near homogeneity from an Escherichia coli strain which overproduced the enzyme. The apparent Km of this isoenzyme for shikimate was 200 microM, and for ATP it was 160 microM. The Km for shikimate is approximately 100-fold lower than the Km of shikimate kinase I, suggesting that shikimate kinase II is the isoenzyme ...

Metabolic transcription analysis of engineered Escherichia coli strains that overproduce L-phenylalanine [PDF]
Background The rational design of L-phenylalanine (L-Phe) overproducing microorganisms has been successfully achieved by combining different genetic strategies such as inactivation of the phosphoenolpyruvate: phosphotransferase transport system (PTS) and
