Porcine intestinal glycosphingolipids recognized by F6-fimbriated enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
One important virulence factor of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli is their ability to adhere via fimbrial adhesins to specific receptors located on the intestinal mucosa. Here, the potential glycosphingolipid receptors of enterotoxigenic F6-fimbriated E.

Human small cell lung cancer cell line (NCI-H146) tumor behaviour on the chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane after the sodium valproate treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of cancer with 5-year survival rate and poor prognosis. Since patients' initial response to therapy is rapidly followed by a relapse with the drug-resistant disease, new therapies are required.

Sialoglycoproteins of ejaculated human spermatozoa and seminal plasma [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Andrology, 1984
Ejaculated human sperm were found to possess three major sialoglycoproteins with molecular weights of 30 000, 14 000 and 12 000 and one minor species of 18 000. Liquefied seminal plasma from normal donors contain two major sialoglycoproteins with molecular weights of 17 000 and 15 000 and two minor species of 70 000 and 54 000.

Does NETosis Contribute to the Bacterial Pathoadaptation in Cystic Fibrosis? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Significant advances in our understanding of neutrophil biology were made in the past several years. The exciting discovery that neutrophils deploy neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) to catch pathogens paved the way for a series of additional studies ...

Generating golden Syrian hamsters with conditional alleles via zygote microinjection of CRISPR/Cas9

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
We established the first conditional knockout (cKO) model in the golden Syrian hamster by CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated genome editing. Cas9 protein, two sgRNAs, and a donor plasmid carrying loxP‐flanked exon 2 of the ApoF gene were microinjected into one‐cell embryos. The floxed allele was efficiently generated (up to 27%) and transmitted through the germline.

Sialoglycoproteins from the Eggs of Pacific Herring [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1980
A family of hitherto undescribed sialoglycoproteins has been isolated from the eggs of Pacific herring in a yield about 10 times as much as phosvitin known as a major protein component of the eggs. The sialoglycoproteins are composed of 60–50% of carbohydrate and 40–50% of protein.

Transcriptome analysis of granulation tissue from periodontal osseous defects

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, Volume 96, Issue 12, Page 1379-1390, December 2025.
Abstract Background Granulation tissue is routinely discarded in periodontal surgical procedures, but few studies have characterized it. The present study aimed to compare global gene expression in granulation tissue derived from different types of periodontal osseous defects.

Transforming growth factor beta receptor 2 (TGFBR2) changes sialylation in the microsatellite unstable (MSI) Colorectal cancer cell line HCT116.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Aberrant glycosylation is a common feature of many malignancies including colorectal cancers (CRCs). About 15% of CRC show the microsatellite instability (MSI) phenotype that is associated with a high frequency of biallelic frameshift mutations in the ...

Vectorial targeting of an endogenous apical membrane sialoglycoprotein and uvomorulin in MDCK cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
We studied the cell-surface delivery pathways of newly synthesized membrane glycoproteins in MDCK cells and for this purpose we characterized an endogenous apical integral membrane glycoprotein.

Counting glomeruli in human kidney specimens using ex vivo MRI without contrast agents

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 94, Issue 6, Page 2519-2528, December 2025.
Abstract Purpose The total number of glomeruli is an important indicator of kidney function and susceptibility to disease. Glomeruli, however, are difficult to image using MRI without contrast enhancement. For this reason, previous studies have used cationic ferritin as a contrast agent to detect glomeruli in ex vivo and in vivo perfused kidneys.
