ST6GalNAc-I controls expression of sialyl-Tn antigen in gastrointestinal tissues
Sialyl-Tn is a simple mucin-type carbohydrate antigen aberrantly expressed in gastrointestinal adenocarcinomas and in the precursor lesion intestinal metaplasia. Sialyl-Tn tumour expression is an independent indicator of poor prognosis. We have previously shown in vitro that ST6GalNAc-I and ST6GalNAc-II sialyltransferases can synthesize sialyl-Tn.

Overexpression of tumour‐ssociated carbohydrate antigen sialyl‐Tn in advanced bladder tumours [PDF]
Little is known on the expression of the tumour‐associated carbohydrate antigen sialyl‐Tn (STn), in bladder cancer. We report here that 75% of the high‐grade bladder tumours, presenting elevated proliferation rates and high risk of recurrence/progression expressed STn.

The Critical Role of GALNTs-Regulated O-GalNAc Glycosylation in Cancer Malignancy. [PDF]
The GALNT family initiates mucin‐type O‐GalNAc glycosylation in the Golgi apparatus and how regulatory mechanisms, including GALNT relocalization and microRNA control, modulate this process. Dysregulated O‐GalNAc glycosylation alters key cellular behaviors and promotes cancer malignancy, highlighting its relevance to tumor progression as well as its ...

Therapeutic targeting of cancer stem cell-specific surface glycans and glycoproteins [PDF]
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) represent a critical subpopulation within tumors, driving malignancy, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance. Their unique biological attributes, particularly the distinctive landscape of surface glycans and glycoproteins, offer ...

Pan-carcinoma sialyl-Tn-targeting expands CAR therapy to solid tumors [PDF]
Summary: Accurate identification of tumor-specific markers is vital for developing chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-based therapies. While cell surface antigens are seldom cancer-restricted, their post-translational modifications (PTMs), particularly ...

Sialyl-Tn expression correlates with reduced c-Myc and immune modulation in triple negative breast cancer [PDF]
Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive, heterogeneous cancer with lack of targeted therapies. The cancer-associated sialyl-Tn (STn) antigen has a significant role in cancer, yet its involvement in TNBC remains unexplored.

Targeted O-glycoproteomics for the development of diagnostic markers for advanced colorectal cancer
Aberrant glycosylation is a prominent feature of cancer, that can be used as targets to improve the existing cancer biomarkers, and help to assess metastasis risks, and therapeutic effects.

Sialyl-tn antigen expression in Crohn's colitis [PDF]
: Expression of the mucin-associated sialyl-Tn (STn) antigen is correlated with malignant progression in the colon. In patients with longstanding ulcerative colitis (UC) who never exhibited colonic dysplasia, STn was expressed in fewer than 15% of nondysplastic surveillance colonoscopic biopsies, whereas matched patients who developed colon cancer ...
