Milk digestion peptidomics: Tracking caseinophosphopeptides in simulated gastrointestinal digestion

open access: yesFood Bioscience, 2019
The dynamics of caseinophosphopeptides (CPP) in simulated gastrointestinal digestion was studied. CPP in the undigested milk and in vitro simulated gastrointestinal hydrolysates were enriched using immobilized titanium (IV) ion affinity chromatography ...

Peptide profiling and the bioactivity character of yogurt in the simulated gastrointestinal digestion

Journal of Proteomics, 2016
This study investigated the relationship between peptide profiles and the bioactivity character of yogurt in simulated gastrointestinal trials. A total of 250, 434 and 466 peptides were identified by LC-MS/MS analyses of yogurt, gastric digest and pancreatic digest. Forty peptides of yogurt survived in gastrointestinal digestion.

Microplastics Reduce Lipid Digestion in Simulated Human Gastrointestinal System

Environmental Science & Technology, 2020
Microplastics (MPs) are unavoidably ingested by humans, and their gastrointestinal processes and impact on lipid digestion are unknown. In the present work, all five MP types used, including polystyrene (PS), polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (80 mg/L in small intestine), significantly ...

Bioaccessibility of curcuminoids in buttermilk in simulated gastrointestinal digestion models

Food Chemistry, 2015
In vitro gastrointestinal digestion models were used to investigate bioaccessibility of curcuminoids delivered with buttermilk. The percentage of solubilised curcuminoids that partitioned into the micelle in aqueous phase was determined. In fasted states (0-2.5 mg bile extract/mL sample), the bioaccessibility of curcuminoids (2% v/v ethanol) ranged ...

Characterization and in vitro simulated gastrointestinal digestion and fermentation of Mentha haplocalyx polysaccharide

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2022
An acidic polysaccharide (PMHP-3) obtained from the Mentha haplocalyx was structurally characterized, and in vitro simulated digestion and fermentation were investigated. PMHP-3 was mainly composed of mannose, rhamnose, glucuronic acid, galacturonic acid, glucose, galactose and arabinose with molecular weight of 21.82 kDa. After digestion in saliva and

Nanoparticle Digestion Simulator Reveals pH-Dependent Aggregation in the Gastrointestinal Tract

Analytical Chemistry, 2020
Determining the physicochemical properties of ingested nanoparticles within the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is critical for evaluating the impact of environmental exposure and potential for nanoparticle drug delivery. However, it is challenging to predict nanoparticle physicochemical properties at the point of intestinal absorption due to the changing

Antioxidant activity of amaranth protein or their hydrolysates under simulated gastrointestinal digestion [PDF]

open access: yesLWT - Food Science and Technology, 2011
Amaranth proteins were subjected to a simulated gastrointestinal digestion to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the products. A protein isolate (I) was first hydrolyzed with pepsin (Pe) (pH 2, 37 °C) and then with pancreatin (Pa) (pH 6, 37 °C ...

Pumpkin polysaccharide preparation, simulated gastrointestinal digestion, and in vivo biodistribution

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2019
We employed a single factor and response surface methodology based on Box-Behnken design (BBD) to optimize the extraction of pumpkin polysaccharides. We then simulated pumpkin polysaccharide gastrointestinal digestion in vitro and investigated their biodistribution in mice.

Reactivity of Free Malondialdehyde during In Vitro Simulated Gastrointestinal Digestion

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2017
An aqueous buffer, a saturated glycerol triheptanoate oil, and a Tween 20 stabilized fully hydrogenated coconut oil-in-water emulsion, all spiked with malondialdehyde, were subjected to in vitro digestion. A dynamic equilibrium between malondialdehyde, its aldol self-condensation products, and its hydrolytic cleavage products was observed.
