Pal et al. describe a two-step process determining removal of the cilia-localized GPCR, Gpr161, upon sonic hedgehog signaling. First, β-arrestins are recruited by the signaling-competent receptor in a smoothened-dependent manner.

Genomics‐led approach to drug testing in models of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma
GA text Genomic data from undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma patients and preclinical models were used to inform a targeted drug screen. Selected compounds were tested in 2D and 3D cultures of UPS cell lines. A combination of trametinib and infigratinib was synergistic in the majority of UPS cell lines tested, which was further confirmed in an ex ...

Activation of heterotrimeric G proteins by Smoothened [PDF]
The mechanisms by which the activation of Smoothened (Smo), a protein essential to the actions of the Hedgehog family of secreted proteins, is translated into signals that converge on the Gli transcription factors are not fully understood.

Automatic segmentation of Phonocardiogram using the occurrence of the cardiac events
Objective: This paper presents automatic method of segmentation of heart sound using the occurrence of the cardiac rhythmic events. Methods: Noisy heart sound is filtered using the 6th order Chebyshev type I low pass filter to remove the redundant noise.

The hedgehog receptor patched is involved in cholesterol transport. [PDF]
Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling plays a crucial role in growth and patterning during embryonic development, and also in stem cell maintenance and tissue regeneration in adults. Aberrant Shh pathway activation is involved in the development of many tumors,

The Arbitrary Trajectory Quantization Method
The arbitrary trajectory quantization method (ATQM) is a time dependent approach to quasiclassical quantization based on the approximate dual relationship that exists between the quantum energy spectra and classical periodic orbits.

In vitro and in vivo inhibition of breast cancer cell growth by targeting the Hedgehog/GLI pathway with SMO (GDC-0449) or GLI (GANT-61) inhibitors. [PDF]
Aberrant Hedgehog (Hh)/glioma-associated oncogene (GLI) signaling has been implicated in cancer progression. Here, we analyzed GLI1, Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) and NF-κB expression in 51 breast cancer (ductal carcinoma) tissues using immunohistochemistry ...

Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Smoothened as a new therapeutic target for human osteosarcoma [PDF]
Abstract Background The Hedgehog signaling pathway functions as an organizer in embryonic development. Recent studies have demonstrated constitutive activation of Hedgehog pathway in various types of malignancies. However, it remains unclear how Hedgehog pathway is involved in the pathogenesis of osteosarcoma.

Fluctuating initial condition and smoothening effect on elliptic and triangular flow
In heavy ion collisions, event-by-event fluctuations in participating nucleon positions can lead to triangular flow. Generally, one uses Monte-Carlo Glauber model to obtain the participating nucleon positions.
