Characterization, in Vivo and in Vitro Evaluation of Solid Dispersion of Curcumin Containing d-α-Tocopheryl Polyethylene Glycol 1000 Succinate and Mannitol

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
The aim of this study was to prepare a solid dispersion formulation of curcumin to enhance its solubility, dissolution rate, and oral bioavailability. The formulation was prepared with d-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (TPGS) and mannitol

Simulations of Spinodal Nucleation in Systems with Elastic Interactions

open access: yes, 2004
Systems with long-range interactions quenched into a metastable state near the pseudospinodal exhibit nucleation that is qualitatively different than the classical nucleation observed near the coexistence curve.

Effect of solid thermal conductivity and particle-particle contact on effective thermodiffusion coefficient in porous media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Transient mass transfer associated to a thermal gradient through a saturated porous medium is studied experimentally and theoretically to determine the effect of solid thermal conductivity and particle-particle contact on thermodiffusion processes.

Characterization of olanzapine-solid dispersions.

open access: yesIranian journal of pharmaceutical research : IJPR, 2011
To enhance the aqueous solubility of olanzapine by using the Solid dispersion technique. Solid dispersions of olanzapine were prepared by the dispersion method using using PGS and SSG as carriers. Drug-carrier ratios such as 1 : 1, 1 : 2, 1 : 4, 1 : 6, 1: 8 and 1 : 10 were tried for optimization.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Matrix Solid Phase Dispersion

open access: yes, 2012
Matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) is a simple, fast, and versatile technique for preparation of solid, semi-solid, liquid, and viscous samples. Since its introduction two decades ago, MSPD has experienced rapid development and, nowadays, can be considered a widely accepted technique in many research areas.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Co-Amorphous Solid Dispersion System for Improvement in Dissolution Profile of N-(((1r,4r)-4-((6-fluorobenzo[d]oxazol-2-yl)amino)cyclohexyl)methyl)-2-methylpropane-2-sulfonamide as a Neuropeptide Y5 Receptor Antagonist

open access: yesPharmaceutics
Background/Objectives: Brick dust molecules exhibit high melting points and ultralow solubility. Overcoming this solubility issue is challenging. Previously, we formulated a co-amorphous system for a neuropeptide Y5 receptor antagonist (NP) as a brick ...
