Advances in Fmoc solid‐phase peptide synthesis

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, 2016
Today, Fmoc SPPS is the method of choice for peptide synthesis. Very‐high‐quality Fmoc building blocks are available at low cost because of the economies of scale arising from current multiton production of therapeutic peptides by Fmoc SPPS.

Solid-Phase Synthesis of Megamolecules

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2020
This paper presents a solid-phase strategy to efficiently assemble multiprotein scaffolds-known as megamolecules-without the need for protecting groups and with precisely defined nanoscale architectures. The megamolecules are assembled through sequential reactions of linkers that present irreversible inhibitors for enzymes and fusion proteins ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Solid Phase Synthesis of a Metronidazole Oligonucleotide Conjugate

open access: yesMolecules, 2006
Direct, solid phase synthesis of an oligonucleotide conjugate of the antibioticdrug metronidazole was accomplished by the phosphoramidite method. Removal ofprotecting groups and cleavage from the controlled pore glass (CPG) solid support wassuccessful ...

Structure, bonding and morphology of hydrothermally synthesised xonotlite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The authors have systematically investigated the role of synthesis conditions upon the structure and morphology of xonotlite. Starting with a mechanochemically prepared, semicrystalline phase with Ca/Si=1, the authors have prepared a series of xonotlite ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Novel Solution- and Solid-Phase Strategies for the Parallel and Combinatorial Synthesis of Small-Molecular-Weight Compound Libraries

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1996
In this account dedicated to '100 years Roche' in CHIMIA, we present some of our strategies towards the synthesis of interesting novel amino-acid-derived building blocks; multigeneration synthesis of thiazole libraries in solution; a novel solid-

Peptide-directed crystal growth modification in the formation of ZnO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Biomolecule-mediated synthesis is fascinating in terms of the level of control and the intricate hierarchical structures of the materials that can be produced.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The effect of solvent on reactivity of the Li2S–P2S5 system in liquid-phase synthesis of Li7P3S11 solid electrolyte

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Synthesis technology for sulfide-based solid electrolytes based on liquid-phase processing has attracted significant interest in relation to achieving the optimal design for all-solid-state batteries.
