SOUR CHERRY (PRUNUS CERASUS) MICROPROPAGATION
Acta Horticulturae, 1988The addition of proline to IBA-enriched rooting media was generally useful in obtaining self-rooted plants of difficult to root sour cherry cultivars.

Sour cherry varieties and improvement.
2017Abstract This chapter focuses on the importance of plant breeding in the development of new sour cherry cultivars. Information on the origin, parentage, tree growth, fertility/fruit set, flowering date, fruit characteristics, resistance to various biotic and abiotic factors and uses of these new sour cherry cultivars are also presented.

Freeze dehydrated compressed sour cherries
International Journal of Food Science & Technology, 1976SummaryThe stability of anthocyanin in freeze dehydrated compressed sour cherries during storage at 21 and 38°C were studied by extraction of pigments, thinlayer chromatography and spectrophotometry. Total anthocyanin contents of freeze‐dried compressed sample decreased from 9.28 mg/100g to 5.04 and 1.10mg/100g, respectively, after six months at 21 and

ANTHOCYANIN PIGMENTS OF SOUR CHERRIES
Journal of Food Science, 1973Fresh fruits of tart cherries (Prunus cerasus L. var. Montmorency) were extracted with acidic methanol. The anthocyanin pigments were isolated and purified by conventional paper chromatography. They were identified by spectral and R f data and by acid hydrolysis. The pigments were cy anidin‐3‐

Antioxidative activity of anthocyanins from sour cherries
Acta Alimentaria, 2008The aim of this study was to examine antioxidant activities of the anthocyanins isolated from different sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) cultivars. DPPH radical method and photochemiluminescence detection method were employed. The effect of isolated anthocyanins on peroxidase activity was also investigated.

Dormancy of micropropagated sour cherry plantlets
Tree Physiology, 1986Micropropagation of fruit trees results in the early onset of dormancy in the young plantlets. Prechilling of shoot cultures of sour cherry cvs Schattenmorelle and North Star at 4 degrees C for 6-8 weeks prolonged shoot extension of the plantlets but longer cold treatments adversely affected shoot growth and survival. Chilling of cultures had no affect

An Anthocyanin-decolorizing System in Sour Cherries
Nature, 1960THE antho cyanins of many fruits contribute to their attractiveness and appeal. In the course of a general study of the anthocyanins we have measured the accumulation of anthocyanins together with the activity of an anthocyanin-decolorizing system in Montmorency and English Morello sour cherries1.

Bioactivity of Sour Cherry Cultivars Grown in Denmark
Phytotherapy Research, 2012Thirty four varieties of sour cherries (Prunus cerasus) were investigated for their total antioxidant activity, Caco‐2 cancer cell proliferation inhibitory activity and effect on prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production. Total phenolic content, oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) and cancer cell proliferation inhibitory activity of sour cherries were ...

Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus L.)
1991The sour cherry (Prunus cerasus L.) forms, together with other species of the genus Prunus, the subgenus Cerasus, where other interesting species are: P. fruticosa Pallas, which forms a hybrid with P. cerasus locally common in Central Europe; P. mahaleb L., used as a rootstock; and P. avium L., the most important for both fruit and wood.
