Spheroid cells overexpressed stem cell genes.

open access: yes, 2014
(A) Total RNA isolated from spheroid cells and parent cells were examined for their gene expression by a human stem cell markers cDNA array and stem cell-genes showed higher expression levels in spheroid cells to non-spheroid cells.

Packed for Ossification: High‐Density Bioprinting of hPDC Spheroids in HAMA Toward Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Human periosteum‐derived cell spheroids bioprinted at high density within a hyaluronic acid matrix promote fusion and hypertrophic cartilage formation in vitro. Early encapsulation enhances spheroid interaction and matrix maturation, generating scalable cartilage templates intended for endochondral bone regeneration.

AMPK Knockout Impairs the Formation of Three-Dimensional Spheroids

open access: yesLife
AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is an important regulator of cellular energy homeostasis, and AMPK contributes to cell growth, apoptosis, and autophagy.

Functional validation of cancer stem cell markers in primary human colorectal cancer and established cell lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In an increasing number of cancers, CSCs have been defined on the basis of the self-renewal and tumor initiation capacity by functional assays. It has been also suggested that CSC populations might be responsible for chemo- and radio-therapy resistance ...

Functional Blood‐Brain Barrier Crossing by Biomimetic M13 Phage Vectors for Targeted Neuronal Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the M13 bacteriophage as a biomimetic nanovector capable of crossing in vitro models of the blood–brain barrier. By exploiting peculiar transcellular pathways, M13 avoids lysosomal degradation and preserves its structural integrity and functionality.

Combined automated culture system for tubular structure assembly and maturation for vascular tissue engineering

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2018
Development of the robust yet practical tissue culture systems for vascular grafting is one of the major challenges for biomedical engineering. The following questions should be solved in priority: (1) flexibility of the tissue reservoir allowing dynamic

A Systematic Study of GelMA‐Carbopol Bioinks for High‐Fidelity Extrusion 3D Bioprinting at Physiological Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gonzalez Martinez and collaborators develop a strategy to formulate high performance GelMA‐based bioinks with low solids contents. The resulting bioinks enable 3D bioprinting at 37 °C of high‐fidelity structures with tunable mechanical properties that support high cell viability and function.

Spheroid droplets evaporation of water solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Droplet film boiling on a horizontal heating surface was studied experimentally. The heat transfer coefficient of droplet water solution in the spheroidal state decreases with a rise of wall overheating and spheroid diameter.
