CHAPTER 25. Quantitation of Folates by Stable Isotope Dilution Assays
2012Folates are a group of water-soluble vitamins involved in the metabolism of one-carbon groups. The most common analytical method for folates is a microbiological assay, which is not able to differentiate between single folate vitamers. Stable isotope dilution assays (SIDAs) for folates are based on the use of stable isotopologues as internal standards ...

Quantitation of potent odorants of virgin olive oil by stable‐isotope dilution assays
Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1993The potent odorants of four olive oil samples differing in flavor were quantitated, and their odor activity values (OAVs) were calculated by dividing the concentrations of the odorants in the oil samples by the flavor threshold values in the oil. The odorants with higher OAVs were contrasted with the different notes of the flavor profiles of the olive ...

Ochratoxin A (OTA) exhibits potent nephrotoxic, carcinogenic and teratogenic effects and its maximum level in wines has been set to 2 μg L(-1) by regulation. Consequently, the analytical procedures for OTA determination in wines have to be both very sensitive and reliable.

Revised folate content of foods determined by stable isotope dilution assays
Journal of Food Composition and Analysis, 2004Abstract Stable isotope dilution assays were applied to quantify folates in several vegetables, orange juice, meat, liver, bread, and rice. The results were compared to data in the literature and in food data bases revealing significantly lower folate contents in broccoli and bread.

[2H4]Folic acid was synthesized by deuterating p-aminobenzoic acid, which was then coupled to glutamic acid and 6-formylpterin. Using [2H4]folic acid as starting component enabled the preparation of labeled vitamers tetrahydrofolate, 5-formyltetrahydrofolate, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, and 10-formylfolate which were characterized by electrospray mass ...

Prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) has been found to be an important pathophysiological mediator in a number of human disorders. Thus a means to assess the endogenous production of PGD2 is of considerable clinical value. To accomplish this goal, we developed a method for the quantification of the major urinary metabolite of PGD2, 9 alpha, 11 beta-dihydroxy-15-oxo-

Stable isotope dilution assays (SIDAs) are becoming ever commoner in mycotoxin analysis, and the number of synthesized or commercially available isotopically labelled compounds has greatly increased in the 7 years since our last review dealing with this topic. Thus, this review is conceived as an update for new applications or improvements of SIDAs for

Stable isotope dilution assays as tools for assessing folate bioavailability
2012Folates play a crucial role as coenzymes in the metabolism of one-carbon groups and folate deficiency is considered to increase the risk of neural tube defects. To evaluate folate bioavailability, two short-term designs were applied. In the first investigation, a large-scale human study with application of model foods revealed a low folate ...

A stable isotope dilution assay for quantification of pantothenic acid in food and blood plasma uses a 4-fold labeled isotopomer of the vitamin as an internal standard. Pantothenic acid and its labeled analogue were detected as trimethylsilyl derivatives by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, showing a minimized spectral overlap.
