Bi-acylation of cellulose: determining the relative reactivities of the acetyl and fatty-acyl moieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The global reaction between acetic anhydride and a fatty acid yields, at equilibrium, an asymmetric acetic-aliphatic anhydride in a medium containing finally: acetic-fatty anhydride, acetic anhydride, fatty acid, acetic acid and fatty anhydride.

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Design of Small Intramolecular Singlet Fission Chromophore: An Azaborine Candidate and General Small Size Effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We report the first attempt to design small intramolecular singlet fission chromophores, with the aid of quantum chemistry and explicitly simulating the time evolution of state populations using quantum dynamics method.

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

RNA polymerase interactions and elongation rate

open access: yes, 2018
We show that non-steric molecular interactions between RNA polymerase (RNAP) motors that move simultaneously on the same DNA track determine strongly the kinetics of transcription elongation.

Distribution of ions around a charged sphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Using a new method of calculating the effects of excluded volume, the authors evaluate the distribution of counterions around a charged sphere in thermal equilibrium.

Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Crystal Growth: A General Framework for Anisotropic Crystal Growth in Cu‐Based Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Growth (CMDLG) framework is established to rationalize the anisotropic growth of lead‐free perovskites. Integrating coordination chemistry with mass transport kinetics, this study theoretically derives and experimentally validates that stable iodocuprate complexes induce a diffusion‐limited regime.

Trifluoromethoxylated Electron Acceptor Enabling Ternary Organic Solar Cells with over 20% Power Conversion Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this work, we introduce a trifluoromethoxy (OCF3) group as a pseudo‐halogen terminal group design for non‐fullerene acceptors, which combines strong inductive electron‐withdrawing ability with moderate resonance donation. The as‐synthesized BTP‐OCF3, when benchmarked against its methoxy analogue BTP‐OCH3, demonstrates narrowed bandgap ...

Resummed thermodynamic perturbation theory for bond cooperativity in associating fluids with small bond angles: Effects of steric hindrance and ring formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we develop a thermodynamic perturbation theory for two site associating fluids which exhibit bond cooperativity. We include both steric hindrance and ring formation such that the equation of state is bond angle dependent.
