HIGH STEROL ESTER 1 is a key factor in plant sterol homeostasis [PDF]
ステロールの過剰集積を防ぐ植物の技を解明 --二段階フェイルセーフ・システム--. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2019-11-15.Plants strictly regulate the levels of sterol in their cells, as high sterol levels are toxic. However, how plants achieve sterol homeostasis is not fully understood.

A Cholesterol Analogue for Cell‐Surface Enzyme Display
We report a non‐genetic strategy for bacterial cell surface enzyme immobilisation using cholesterol‐based artificial lipids containing Ni2+‐NTA binding groups that can integrate into biological membranes. The engineered cells can capture His‐tagged enzymes directly from cell lysates while preserving intracellular and surface activity, allowing for ...

IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

A mass spectrometric method for the quantification of free cholesterol in cells and subcellular membranes is presented. The method is based on a simple one-step chemical derivatization of cholesterol to cholesterol-3-sulfate by a sulfur trioxide-pyridine

Sertraline Treatment Can Mimic Niemann‐Pick Type C Biomarker Profile: A Diagnostic Pitfall
ABSTRACT Background Oxysterols (cholestane‐3β,5α,6β‐triol and 7‐ketocholesterol) and N‐palmitoyl‐O‐phosphocholineserine (PPCS) are sensitive biomarkers for Niemann‐Pick disease type C (NPC) screening. However, false‐positive results occur, with a biomarker profile suggestive of NPC despite the absence of pathogenic variants in genes involved in NPC or ...

Investigation into sterol signalling in Arabidopsis [PDF]
The hydra sterol mutants (hydral and fk(^hyd2)) phenotypes are characterised by short thickened roots and a shoot consisting of a mass of indistinct leaves.

Oil body extraction from oleo-proteaginous seeds and conservation of valuable native compounds☆
Oil bodies, also called oleosomes have been the object of an increased interest since the last decade. Different processes of extraction and purification involve an aqueous crushing with methods to soften the cell membranes.

The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.
