Targeting the HSPA8‐CMA‐ATP6V1A Axis Triggers Lysosomal Hyperacidification and Catastrophic Vacuolation in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our experimental evidence supports a model in which ALO targets the HSPA8‐CMA‐ATP6V1A axis to induce lysosomal hyperacidification and initiate osmotic and lipidomic stress. These changes are associated with LMP and loss of lysosomal integrity in prostate cancer cells.

Functional Suppression of SCAP Triggers Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress‐Dependent Ferroptosis by Impairing Cholesterol Metabolism in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a novel GC therapy targeting cholesterol homeostasis. Inhibiting the SCAP sterol‐sensing domain causes lethal ER stress via cholesterol accumulation, paradoxically forcing continuous synthesis that triggers ferroptosis. The findings link sterol sensing, metabolic dysregulation, and ferroptosis, establishing an anti‐cancer paradigm ...

Lipid Raft, Regulator of Plasmodesmal Callose Homeostasis

open access: yesPlants, 2017
: The specialized plasma membrane microdomains known as lipid rafts are enriched by sterols and sphingolipids. Lipid rafts facilitate cellular signal transduction by controlling the assembly of signaling molecules and membrane protein trafficking ...

Preparation, Component Identification, and Antioxidant Activity of Anthocyanins From Punica granatum “Tunisia”

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
The preparation for Tunisian pomegranate anthocyanin extract. The molecular mechanisms underlying the antioxidant effects of these compounds were investigated using network pharmacology and molecular docking. Antioxidant activity was evaluated through DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP assays, whereas the effects on oxidative stress and inflammation were examined in

Expanded Phenotype Associated With an Intronic PPP1R12A Variant: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autosomal dominant PPP1R12A‐related genitourinary and/or brain malformation syndrome is a recently described multisystem disorder caused by loss‐of‐function variants in the protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 12a (PPP1R12A) gene. To date, 22 affected individuals have been reported with variable brain malformations and genitourinary ...

The fatty acid and amino profiles, bioactive compounds, and alpha glucosidase inhibition activity of C. rheedei J.F. Gmelin seed oil☆

open access: yesOilseeds and fats, crops and lipids
C. rheedei J.F. Gmelin is an underutilized Asian shrub with no prior characterization of its seeds or oil. This study reports, for the first time, the nutritional and functional profile of C. rheedei seeds. The seeds yielded 32.6% oil, dominated by oleic

Cholesterol Sulfate: Pathophysiological Implications and Potential Therapeutics

open access: yesBiomolecules
Cholesterol sulfate (CS) is a naturally occurring cholesterol derivative that is widely distributed across various tissues and body fluids. In humans, its biosynthesis is primarily mediated by the sulfotransferase (SULT) 2B1b (SULT2B1b).

Cardiovascular Safety of Plant Sterol and Stanol Consumption.

open access: yes, 2015
Plant sterols and stanols as components of functional foods are widely used for cholesterol lowering. The regular intake of these functional foods is associated with a decrease in low density lipoprotein cholesterol of about 10 % and an increase in ...
