Lymph Node Stromal Cells Generate Antigen-Specific Regulatory T Cells and Control Autoreactive T and B Cell Responses

open access: yesCell Reports, 2020
Summary: Within lymph nodes (LNs), T follicular helper (TFH) cells help B cells to produce antibodies, which can either be protective or autoreactive. Here, we demonstrate that murine LN stromal cells (LNSCs) suppress the formation of autoreactive TFH ...

The elusive identity of T follicular helper cells

open access: yesTrends in Immunology, 2010
Follicular helper T (Tfh) cells provide help to B cells and allow formation of long-lived antibody responses. Despite an improved understanding of the molecular program that drives Tfh cell formation, their definition remains elusive: neither follicular homing ability, Bcl-6 expression nor IL-21 secretion are exclusive properties of T cells that help B

T Follicular Helper Cells and B Cell Dysfunction in Aging and HIV-1 Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2017
T follicular helper (Tfh) cells are a subset of CD4 T cells that provide critical signals to antigen-primed B cells in germinal centers to undergo proliferation, isotype switching, and somatic hypermutation to generate long-lived plasma cells and memory ...

The Role of “Adult‐Onset” Cancer Predisposition Genes in Pediatric Cancer: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current literature estimates that 10% of pediatric cancers are caused by pathogenic or likely pathogenic (P/LP) germline variants in cancer predisposition genes (CPGs). Variants in CPGs thought to increase cancer risk exclusively during adulthood are referred to as “adult‐onset” CPGs (aoCPGs).

CD4+ T Follicular Helper Cells in Human Tonsils and Blood Are Clonally Convergent but Divergent from Non-Tfh CD4+ Cells

open access: yesCell Reports, 2020
Summary: T follicular helper (Tfh) cells are fundamental for B cell selection and antibody maturation in germinal centers. Circulating Tfh (cTfh) cells constitute a minor proportion of the CD4+ T cells in peripheral blood, but their clonotypic ...

Life of T Follicular Helper Cells

open access: yesMolecules and Cells, 2015
Antibodies are powerful defense tools against pathogens but may cause autoimmune diseases when erroneously directed toward self-antigens. Thus, antibody producing cells are carefully selected, refined, and expanded in a highly regulated microenvironment (germinal center) in the peripheral lymphoid organs.

Follicular helper T-cell–related lymphomas [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 2015
In this issue of Blood, Wang et al describe the occurrence and pathogenetic relevance of IDH2R172 mutations in angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL).

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Mapping the Lineage Relationship between CXCR5+ and CXCR5− CD4+ T Cells in HIV-Infected Human Lymph Nodes

open access: yesCell Reports, 2019
Summary: CXCR5 is a key marker of follicular helper T (TFH) cells. Using primary lymph nodes (LNs) from HIV-infected patients, we identified a population of CXCR5− CD4+ T cells with TFH-cell-like features.

Ddb1 Is Essential for the Expansion of CD4+ Helper T Cells by Regulating Cell Cycle Progression and Cell Death

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Follicular helper T (TFH) cells are specialized CD4+ helper T cells that provide help to B cells in humoral immunity. However, the molecular mechanism underlying generation of TFH cells is incompletely understood.
