Prognostic value of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase in human cancers: Evidence from a meta-analysis and database validation

open access: yesOpen Medicine, 2022
Previous studies indicated that dysregulated expression of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) contributed to the tumor progression and predicted poor prognosis in various cancers.

Identification of an immune-related signature for the prognosis of uveal melanoma [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ophthalmology, 2020
"AIM: To construct an immune-related prognostic signature (IPS) that can distinguish and predict prognosis in uveal melanoma (UM). METHODS: The transcriptomic data and clinicopathological information of 80 UM patients were extracted from the TCGA ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

TREMSUCS-TCGA – an integrated workflow for the identification of biomarkers for treatment success

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Bioinformatics
Many publicly available databases provide disease related data, that makes it possible to link genomic data to medical and meta-data. The cancer genome atlas (TCGA), for example, compiles tens of thousand of datasets covering a wide array of cancer types.

High Levels of Class I Major Histocompatibility Complex mRNA Are Present in Epstein–Barr Virus-Associated Gastric Adenocarcinomas

open access: yesCells, 2020
Epstein−Barr virus (EBV) is responsible for approximately 9% of stomach adenocarcinomas. EBV-encoded microRNAs have been reported as reducing the function of the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC-I) antigen presentation apparatus, which

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.
