Th1/Th2 cells

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, 1999
A large body of evidence indicates the existence of functionally polarized CD4+ T-cell responses based on their profile of cytokine secretion. Type 1 T helper (Th1) cells produce interferon-gamma, interleukin (IL)-2, and tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-beta, which activate macrophages and are responsible for cell-mediated immunity and phagocyte-dependent ...

Th1/Th2 Cross Regulation

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1994
We present and analyze a model for the cross-regulation of the Th1 and Th2 helper cell subsets during an immune response by the regulatory cytokines interferon-gamma (IFN)-gamma) and interleukin-10 (IL-10). IFN-gamma, secreted by Th1 cells, can inhibit the proliferation of Th2 cells.

Sarcoidosis and Th1 chemokines.

La Clinica terapeutica, 2015
Many studies have shown high levels of the chemokine Interferon-γ-inducible protein 10 (IP-10) and its chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor (CXCR) 3, expressed on Type-1 helper (Th1) lymphocytes, in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) and biopsy samples of patients with sarcoidosis.

Th1 and Th2 cells

Current Opinion in Hematology, 2001
After activation, CD4 helper T (Th) cells differentiate into Th1or Th2 effector subsets. These two types of cells produce distinct profiles of cytokines and regulate different immune responses. This review summarizes recent progress on different features of co-stimulatory regulation and chemokine-mediated homing of Th1 and Th2 cells.

[Th1, Th17 and Th1+17 cells].

Zeitschrift fur Rheumatologie, 2012
T helper cells contribute to the induction and maintenance of rheumatic inflammation through the secretion of cytokines. The analysis of Th1 cells expressing interferon-γ, Th17 cells expressing interleukin-17 and the newly described Th1+17 cells could give insight into the pathophysiological mechanisms of rheumatic diseases.

The Th1/Th2 paradigm

Immunology Today, 1997
Abstract The Th1/Th2 paradigm provides a useful model for understanding the pathogenesis of several diseases, as well as for developing novel immunotherapeutic strategies. Here, Sergio Romagnani examines Th1/Th2 polarization in the context of associated pathophysiological conditions.
