Association between individual Warburg‐related proteins and prognosis in colorectal cancer

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research
We previously showed that Warburg subtyping (low/moderate/high), based on the expression of six glycolytic proteins and transcriptional regulators [glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1), pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2), lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA), monocarboxylate ...

Unveiling a Hidden Conversion Pathway in CoSe2 Anodes via Rationally Designed CNT‐Interwoven Hollow Carbon Microclusters for High‐Performance Potassium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rational architectural design of hierarchical, CNT‐interwoven hollow carbon microclusters unlocks and stabilizes a unique monoclinic Co3Se4‐mediated conversion–insertion pathway for potassium storage. This structural confinement effectively guides the reaction kinetics and accommodates severe mechanical strain.

3D‐Mixer‐Assisted High‐Entropy Doping of LiNiO2 for Co‐Free Ni‐Rich Cathodes in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐entropy doping of Co‐free Ni‐rich LiNiO2 cathodes is achieved through a scalable 3D mixing process. Multi‐element incorporation stabilizes the layered structure, alleviates Li/Ni disorder and electrode swelling, and enhances cycling stability. This approach underscores the potential of high‐entropy strategies to deliver structurally robust and ...

The KIF6‐RBP Complex Orchestrates mRNA Transport Required for Sperm Flagellar Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two homozygous deleterious KIF6 variants are identified in unrelated men with impaired sperm motility. Mouse models and multi‐omics analyses reveal that KIF6 cooperates with the RNA‐binding proteins FMRP and FXR1 to deliver mRNAs essential for sperm flagellar assembly, linking disrupted mRNA transport to reduced abundance of key structural and ...

The Warburg Effect: Is it Always an Enemy?

open access: yes
The Warburg effect, also known as ‘aerobic’ glycolysis, describes the preference of cancer cells to favor glycolysis over oxidative phosphorylation for energy (adenosine triphosphate-ATP) production, despite having high amounts of oxygen and fully active

Self‐Sustaining Lactate Depletion Nanoplatform Remodels Tumor Microenvironment and Augments Synergistic Photodynamic/Photothermal/Chemodynamic/Starvation Therapy for Eradication of Colon Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The HILA nanoplatform integrates HMnO2, LOX, and ICG to orchestrate multimodal therapy (starvation, chemodynamic, photodynamic, and photothermal) for achieving efficient colon cancer eradication. The established HMnO2‐LOX catalytic cycle continuously consumes lactate, acidifys microenvironment, relieves hypoxia, and generats reactive oxygen species ...

Freestanding Bamboo‐Like Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon Nanofibers/PANI Dual‐Conductive Cathodes via Interfacial Engineering for High‐Performance Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bamboo‐like nitrogen‐doped carbon fibers (BNCFs) were synthesized via a vapor‐liquid‐solid catalytic growth method and further integrated with polyaniline to fabricate a freestanding BNCFs/S/PANI cathode. The PANI coating and BNCFs framework synergistically establish an interconnected conductive network with abundant nitrogen‐active sites, thereby ...

Warburg or reverse Warburg effect: Tumor microenvironment reprograms breast cancer metabolism to upregulate cell proliferation

open access: yes, 2018
Cancer cells are most clearly characterized by their abnormal and uncontrolled cell growth. One of the most notable theories that explains the vast proliferative capacity of tumorigenic cells is the Warburg effect, a significant shift in metabolism ...

Capacitive versus Faradaic Microelectrodes for Extracellular Stimulation: A Fully Coupled FEM–Hodgkin–Huxley Study of Thresholds and Current Redistribution

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A fully coupled FEM–HH model shows that ideally capacitive microelectrodes can achieve lower charge‐density thresholds than Faradaic contacts under current‐controlled stimulation. The advantage stems from the dynamics of surface current density on capacitive interfaces, which redirects current beneath adherent neurons.
