Development of chromatographic methods for thebaine detection and quantification along with some of related alkaloid derivatives

open access: yesMacedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 2015
Thebaine is naturally occurring alkaloid  which is of great importance in the pharmaceutical industry and  up to now there is not a Pharmacopoeial monograph for this compound.

Behavioral effects of thebaine in the rhesus monkey [PDF]

open access: yesPharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, 1981
Three experiments were conducted with rhesus monkeys to assess some behavioral effects of the opium alkaloid, thebaine, in relation to its dependence liability. The concurrent intramuscular administration of naloxone did not antagonize the rate-decreasing effects of thebaine on a fixed-ratio (FR) schedule of food-reinforced responding.

Mesostructured Silica-Coated Magnetic Nanoparticles to Extract Six Opium Alkaloids in Poppy Seeds Prior to Ultra-High-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry Analysis

open access: yesFoods, 2021
In recent years, health authorities have become increasingly concerned about preventing consumer exposure to opium alkaloids present in Papaver somniferum L. poppy seeds. In this study, a simple, rapid and efficient method has been optimised to determine

Separation and identification of a number of alkaloids and some phenols from two species of plants of the genus Euphorbia grown in Nineveh Governorate. [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 2023
In this research, a number of chemical compounds were estimated and identified in the crude extract of both E. helioscopia and E. peplus species, as it was noted that there were about twenty alkaloid compounds in them, and It was, also, noted that there ...

Genetic and Phenotypic Analyses of a Papaver somniferum T-DNA Insertional Mutant with Altered Alkaloid Composition

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2012
The in vitro shoot culture of a T-DNA insertional mutant of Papaver somniferum L. established by the infection of Agrobacterium rhizogenes MAFF03-01724 accumulated thebaine instead of morphine as a major opium alkaloid.

Update of the Scientific Opinion on opium alkaloids in poppy seeds

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2018
Poppy seeds are obtained from the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum L.). They are used as food and to produce edible oil. The opium poppy plant contains narcotic alkaloids such as morphine and codeine.

Determination of alkaloids and oil rates of some poppy (papaver somniferum L.) varieties cultivated as winter and summer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Secondary Metabolite, 2017
The aim of this study is to determine the alkaloid and oil rates contents of some poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) varieties, such as morphine, codeine, oripavine, thebaine, noscapine and papaverine, which are planted as winter and summer. Five varieties of

Thebaine Synthase: A New Enzyme in the Morphine Pathway in

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2007
Along the poppy morphine biosynthetic pathway, the transition from salutaridinol-7-O-acetate to thebaine had previously been claimed to proceed non-enzymatically between pH 8–9. At pH 6–7, the acetate was transformed to an azonine derivative.

Evaluation of the Transfer and Occurrence of Opium Alkaloids in Poppy Seed Teas Using Preconcentrations with µSPEed® Followed by GC-MS Analysis

open access: yesChemosensors, 2023
Intoxication due to the consumption of poppy seed teas has been reported due to their contamination with opium alkaloids (OAs). In this work, an efficient methodology based on microsolid-phase extraction (µSPEed®) followed by gas chromatography–mass ...
