Thiohydantoins. II. Thiohydantoins Derived from Aspartic and Glutamic Acids
Australian Journal of Scientific Research Series A: Physical Sciences, 1952N-Acyl derivatives of the &carboxylic acids, aspartic and glutamic acids, yield the corresponding anhydrides when heated with acetic anhydride in the presence or absence of ammonium thiocyanate. In general these anhydrides form isomeric pairs of amides and anilides, and only one of each pair can be converted into the corresponding 2-thiohydantoin ...

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 1998
The molecular structure of the title compound, 5,5-diphenyl-2-thioxoimidazolidin-4-one, C 15 H 12 N 2 OS, resembles that of 5,5-diphenylhydantoin (phenytoin). The C=S distance is 1.648 (2) A. The crystal structure consists of ribbon-like infinite sheets of molecules bonded by N-H...O and N-H...S hydrogen bonds.

Staudinger Condensation for the Preparation of Thiohydantoins
Synthesis, 2014An efficient one-pot, two-step sequence starting from azide derivatives is described: first, formation of iminophosphoranes (Staudinger reaction) and condensation with carbon disulfide to form nonisolated isothiocyanates; then, condensation with α-amino esters to provide new N-3-substituted 2-thiohydantoins.

IR absorption spectrum of thiohydantoin
Soviet Physics Journal, 1970The IR absorption spectrum of thiohydantoin is found in the range 400–3500 cam−1, and the normal-mode frequencies are calculated on the basis of a model. The IR spectrum is interpreted on the basis of the theoretical results, the experimental x-ray spectrum, and the microwave dielectric constants.

Adhesive bonding of noble metals with a thiohydantoin primer
Dental Materials, 2021The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of an experimental primer containing acetone solution and a sulfur-containing functional monomer, 10-methacryloyloxydecyl-(2-thiohydantoin-4-yl)propionate (MDTHP), on the bonds between noble metals and acrylic resin. The experimental primer used as the control for comparison consisted of 6-(4 ...

Derivatives of 2-thiohydantoin as spectrophotometric analytical reagents
Talanta, 1978The synthesis, characteristics, properties and reaction with metallic ions of four pyridine derivatives of 2-thiohydantoin have been studied. 5-(2-Pyridyl)methylene-2-thiohydantoin, 5-(6-methyl-2-pyridyl) methylene-2-thiohydantoin, 5-(di-2-pyridyl)methylene-2-thiohydantoin and 5-[1-(2-pyridyl)-1-methyl] methylene-2-thiohydantoin have been synthesized ...

Multiple solid-phase synthesis of hydantoins and thiohydantoins
Molecular Diversity, 1997A novel general protocol for the construction of hydantoins and thiohydantoins on a solid support has been developed. Using this novel methodology, the synthesis of a diverse 96-compound library has been achieved. Resin-bound dipeptides are cyclised via the formation of an intermediate isocyanate or isothiocyanate on resin as the key step in the ...

Thiohydantoins. I. The Preparation of Some 2-Thiohydantoins from Amino Acids and Acylamino Acids
Australian Journal of Scientific Research Series A: Physical Sciences, 1952A reinvestigation of the stepwise degradation of peptides and proteins by the Schlack and Kumpf (1926) procedure, which involves conversion of the terminal carboxyl residue to a 5-substituted-2-thiohydantoin; has been undertaken. The following amino acids or their aoetyl derivatives have been converted by warming with acetic anhydride and ammonium ...

Atroposelective Synthesis of Axially Chiral Thiohydantoin Derivatives
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016Nonracemic axially chiral thiohydantoins were synthesized atroposelectively by the reaction of o-aryl isothiocyanates with amino acid ester salts in the presence of triethylamine (TEA). The synthesis of the nonaxially chiral derivatives, however, gave thiohydantoins racemized at C-5 of the heterocyclic ring.

A New And Convenient Synthesis Of Some Substituted Thiohydantoins
Synthetic Communications, 1999Abstract 3-Substituted thiohydantoins (2a-g) were synthesized in satisfactory yields by the reaction of N-substituted thioureas (la-g) with chloroacetylchloride in the presence of triethylamine under reflux in dioxane. S-Alkylated products (7, 8) were obtained from the reaction of 3-p-tolyl -thiohydantoin (2d) with p-nitrobenzylchloride and 3-phenyl-5 ...
