Molecular immunopharmacology of traditional Chinese medicine–derived compounds in membranous nephropathy: mechanistic insights into immune aging and kidney essence deficiency

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Membranous nephropathy (MN) is a prototypical immune-mediated glomerular disease characterized by the formation of autoantibodies targeting podocyte antigens, deposition of subepithelial immune complexes, and activation of complement pathways leading to ...

Computational Insights into the Structure and Epitope locations for Two Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy Antigens: Phospholipase A 2 Receptor and the Thrombospondin Type‐1 Containing Domain 7A and Design of Antigen Binding Proteins

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2018
The use of non‐specific treatment options in autoimmune therapy today unfortunately causes patients to be prone to other infections. This non‐specific therapy suppresses the entire patient's immunes system also making it harder to fight of basic infections.

Clinicopathological characteristics of thrombospondin type 1 domain-containing 7A-associated membranous nephropathy

open access: yesClinicopathological characteristics of thrombospondin type 1 domain-containing 7A-associated membranous nephropathy
Thrombospondin type 1 domain-containing 7A (THSD7A) is a recently identified target antigen of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (iMN). The clinicopathological characteristics of THSD7A-associated MN are poorly characterised due to low prevalence among MN patients.

Thrombospondin-4 reduces binding affinity of [(3)H]-gabapentin to calcium-channel α2δ-1-subunit but does not interact with α2δ-1 on the cell-surface when co-expressed

open access: yes, 2016
The α2δ proteins are auxiliary subunits of voltage-gated calcium channels, and influence their trafficking and biophysical properties. The α2δ ligand gabapentin interacts with α2δ-1, and inhibits calcium channel trafficking.
