Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Design Principles for Scaling Multi-core OLTP Under High Contention
Although significant recent progress has been made in improving the multi-core scalability of high throughput transactional database systems, modern systems still fail to achieve scalable throughput for workloads involving frequent access to highly ...

The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Standard protocols are available in order to apply Phenotype MicroArray (PM) technology to characterize different groups of microorganisms. Nevertheless, there is the need to pay attention to several crucial steps in order to obtain high-quality and reproducible data from PM, such as the choice of the Dye mix, the type and concentration of the carbon ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

High-throughput Technology and High-throughput Factory
Structural Genomics has launched over the world including National Project of Protein Structural and Functional Analysis in Japan in a post-genomic era. It remains many bottlenecks to determine the protein structures with SR protein crystallography based on full-genome sequence information in high throughput manner.

On the Delay-Throughput Tradeoff in Distributed Wireless Networks
This paper deals with the delay-throughput analysis of a single-hop wireless network with $n$ transmitter/receiver pairs. All channels are assumed to be block Rayleigh fading with shadowing, described by parameters $(\alpha,\varpi)$, where $\alpha ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.
