Non-cognate CD8 Binding to MHC I Promotes Positive Selection of an MHC-E Restricted CD8 T Cell Population. [PDF]

open access: yesEur J Immunol
Mouse Qa1b‐restricted T cells show promiscuous requirements for positive selection. Using in vivo tetramer enrichment, in vitro APC engineering, and in vitro thymocyte stimulation, we demonstrate that a Qa1b‐restricted T cell population can be selected by both Qa1b and H2‐T11, and depends on non‐cognate CD8‐MHC I binding.

Lipocalin‐2 activates hepatic stellate cells and promotes nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in high‐fat diet–fed Ob/Ob mice

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Graphical summary of obesity‐induced NASH progression by LCN2 targeted to HSC activation. Abstract Background and Aims In obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, leptin promotes insulin resistance and contributes to the progression of NASH via activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs).

RelB reduces thymocyte apoptosis and regulates terminal thymocyte maturation [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, 2002
Thymocyte maturation is controlled by successive developmental checkpoints connected to the acquisition of a functional T cell receptor (TCR). During thymocyte selection, engagement of the TCR regulates the fine balance between death and survival signals.

Effect of extracts from microalgae on cytokine levels in female C57Bl6 mice

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2023
Microalgae from the freshwater basins and seas are a valuable source of broad-spectrum biologically active substances that can affect the cells of immune system and their functional state.

A novel TCR transgenic model reveals that negative selection involves an immediate, Bim-dependent pathway and a delayed, Bim-independent pathway. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
A complete understanding of negative selection has been elusive due to the rapid apoptosis and clearance of thymocytes in vivo. We report a TCR transgenic model in which expression of the TCR during differentiation occurs only after V(D)J-like ...

NFAT Factors Are Dispensable for the Development but Are Critical for the Maintenance of Foxp3+ Regulatory T Cells

open access: yesCells, 2022
The transcription factors of the nuclear factor of activated T cell (NFAT) family play a crucial role in multiple aspects of T cell function. It has recently been reported that NFATs play an important role in the suppressive function of CD4+CD25+Foxp3 ...

Increased leptin response and inhibition of apoptosis in thymocytes of young rats offspring from protein deprived dams during lactation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
We investigated the consequences of mild maternal malnutrition in rat dams, in terms of thymocyte responses and the putative role of leptin. The young progeny of dams submitted to protein deprivation (PD) during lactation showed at 30 days of age lower ...

Thymocytes can tolerize thymocytes by clonal deletion in vitro [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Immunology, 1992
Clonal deletion of thymocytes bearing TCR for self antigens is one major mechanism of T cell tolerance induction. Peptide antigen-induced deletion of thymocytes from alpha beta TCR transgenic mice has been studied using single cell suspension cultures.

The Timing and Abundance of IL-2Rβ (CD122) Expression Control Thymic iNKT Cell Generation and NKT1 Subset Differentiation

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Invariant NKT (iNKT) cells are thymus-generated innate-like T cells, comprised of three distinct subsets with divergent effector functions. The molecular mechanism that drives the lineage trifurcation of immature iNKT cells into the NKT1, NKT2, and NKT17

Effects of an immunosuppressive active component of Periplocae Cortex (Periploca sepium Bge.) on positive selection of thymocytes in vitro

open access: yesJournal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences, 2018
Objective: To determine the effect of an immunosuppressive active component (periploside A) isolated from the stem bark of Periplocae Cortex (Periploca sepium Bge.), a Chinese medicinal herb used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis for centuries in ...
