Graphical summary of obesity‐induced NASH progression by LCN2 targeted to HSC activation. Abstract Background and Aims In obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, leptin promotes insulin resistance and contributes to the progression of NASH via activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs).

Development of double-positive thymocytes at single-cell resolution
Background T cells generated from thymopoiesis are essential for the immune system, and recent single-cell studies have contributed to our understanding of the development of thymocytes at the genetic and epigenetic levels.

Effect of extracts from microalgae on cytokine levels in female C57Bl6 mice
Microalgae from the freshwater basins and seas are a valuable source of broad-spectrum biologically active substances that can affect the cells of immune system and their functional state.

Natriuretic peptide receptors on rat thymocytes: Inhibition of proliferation by atrial natriuretic peptide. [PDF]
Because the thymus expresses the natriuretic peptides (NP) as well as their respective receptors, an involvement of NP in the physiology of this organ has been suggested.

The transcription factors of the nuclear factor of activated T cell (NFAT) family play a crucial role in multiple aspects of T cell function. It has recently been reported that NFATs play an important role in the suppressive function of CD4+CD25+Foxp3 ...

Beta-selection: abundance of TCRbeta-/gammadelta- CD44- CD25- (DN4) cells in the foetal thymus. [PDF]
Expression of TCRbeta and pre-TCR signalling are essential for differentiation of CD4- CD8- double negative (DN) thymocytes to the CD4+ CD8+ double-positive (DP) stage.

A novel TCR transgenic model reveals that negative selection involves an immediate, Bim-dependent pathway and a delayed, Bim-independent pathway. [PDF]
A complete understanding of negative selection has been elusive due to the rapid apoptosis and clearance of thymocytes in vivo. We report a TCR transgenic model in which expression of the TCR during differentiation occurs only after V(D)J-like ...

Invariant NKT (iNKT) cells are thymus-generated innate-like T cells, comprised of three distinct subsets with divergent effector functions. The molecular mechanism that drives the lineage trifurcation of immature iNKT cells into the NKT1, NKT2, and NKT17

Analysis of thymocyte MHC specificity with thymocyte hybridomas. [PDF]
Medullary, peanut agglutinin-negative (PNA-), thymocytes were activated in vitro with either exogenous interleukin 1 (IL-1) or accessory cells. T cell blasts from these cultures were subsequently fused to BW5147 to generate thymocyte hybridomas. Fusion frequencies similar to those obtained with peripheral T lymphocytes were observed.

The radiosensitivity of rat thymocytes [PDF]
gamma-Irradiation in vitro apparently blocked a plasma-membrane associated, superoxide-producing, NADPH oxidase in rat thymocytes. Differential centrifugation of the mixed thymocytes indicated the smaller lymphocytes (approx. 6 microns diameter) to be the radiosensitive population.
