Mature T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma with an NK‐like immunophenotype: A report of 7 cases

open access: yesCytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, EarlyView.
Abstract Distinguishing T‐cell from NK‐cell neoplasms can occasionally be challenging, as neoplastic T cells can lose T‐cell markers such as surface CD3 (sCD3) and CD5 while acquiring NK‐cell markers such as CD16, CD56, and CD94. In this study, we present a series of 7 mature T‐cell lymphoma/leukemia cases with NK‐like immunophenotypes to clarify ...

Role of Hormonal Circuitry Upon T Cell Development in Chagas Disease: Possible Implications on T Cell Dysfunctions

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2018
T cell response plays an essential role in the host resistance to infection by the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, the causative agent of Chagas disease.

VIP treatment prevents embryo resorption by modulating efferocytosis and activation profile of maternal macrophages in the CBAxDBA resorption prone model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Successful embryo implantation occurs followed by a local pro-inflammatory response subsequently shifted toward a tolerogenic one. VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide) has embryotrofic, anti-inflammatory and tolerogenic effects.

Development and Validation of a Nomogram Incorporating Preoperative N‐Terminal Pro‐Brain Natriuretic Peptide to Predict Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events in Renal Transplant Recipients

open access: yesOrgan Medicine, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a preoperative nomogram incorporating NT‐proBNP to predict major adverse cardiovascular events in renal transplant recipients. Using a LASSO‐Cox model based on 582 training and 181 validation cases, we identified NT‐proBNP, age, body mass index, diabetes, and retransplantation as key predictors.

Increased leptin response and inhibition of apoptosis in thymocytes of young rats offspring from protein deprived dams during lactation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
We investigated the consequences of mild maternal malnutrition in rat dams, in terms of thymocyte responses and the putative role of leptin. The young progeny of dams submitted to protein deprivation (PD) during lactation showed at 30 days of age lower ...

Regulated progression of B lymphocyte differentiation from cultured fetal liver. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Lymphoid fetal liver cultures (LFLC) are long-term, nontransformed cultures of early B lymphoid lineage cells which appear developmentally blocked at the pre-B stage in vitro.

Current Status of Kidney Xenotransplantation in Basic Research

open access: yesOrgan Medicine, EarlyView.
Kidney xenotransplantation is a potential solution to the organ shortage for end‐stage kidney disease. This review systematically elaborates on the application advances of donor pig gene editing technologies, the molecular mechanisms and regulatory strategies of xenogeneic immune rejection, and the optimization approaches of immune compatibility ...

Zinc finger protein Zfp335 is required for the formation of the naïve T cell compartment

open access: yeseLife, 2014
The generation of naïve T lymphocytes is critical for immune function yet the mechanisms governing their maturation remain incompletely understood. We have identified a mouse mutant, bloto, that harbors a hypomorphic mutation in the zinc finger protein ...

The cytoplasmic domain of CD4 promotes the development of CD4 lineage T cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Thymocytes must bind major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins on thymic epithelial cells in order to mature into either CD8+ cytotoxic T cells or CD4+ helper T cells.

A new transcript in the TCRB locus unveils the human ortholog of the mouse pre-Dß1 promoter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction: While most transcripts arising from the human T Cell Receptor locus reflect fully rearranged genes, several germline transcripts have been identified. We describe a new germline transcript arising from the human TCRB locus.
