Mutations in the _SC4MOL_ gene encoding a novel methyl sterol oxidase cause autosomal recessive psoriasisiform dermatitis, microcephaly and developmental delay [PDF]
Disorders of cholesterol biosynthesis have clinical manifestations involving skeleton, eyes, neurologic development, and skin. We describe a patient with congenital cataracts, developmental delay, microcephaly, and low serum cholesterol who developed ...

Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor with limited treatment options and a terrible prognosis. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent development of osteoimmunomodulatory implants for post‐operative osteosarcoma treatment, of which the potential utility in evoking durable anti‐osteosarcoma immunity and accelerating bone

Toll-Like Receptor-1 and Receptor-2 and Beta-Defensin in Postcholecystectomy Bile Duct Injury
Postcholecystectomy bile duct injuries (BDI) produce hepatic cholestasis and cause infection of the biliary tract. The biliary cells participate in secreting cytokines and in expression of immune response receptors.

Polyethylene wear particles induce TLR 2 upregulation in the synovial layer of mice
A cellular and receptor mediated response to ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene (UHMWPE) wear particles results in a release of proinflammatory cytokines and induces an inflammatory reaction causing osteolysis in total joint replacement. This investigation offers insight into the toll-like receptor (TLR) mediated activation by polyethylene wear ...

Improved Systemic Immunochemotherapy Employing an Oxaliplatin‐TLR7/8 Agonist Prodrug Strategy
A platinum(IV) prodrug is developed to systemically deliver the TLR7/8 agonist gardiquimod. Tumor‐targeting is mediated by an albumin‐binding maleimide, which limits premature complex activation. Ox‐Gardi‐Mal accumulates specifically in the tumor, where it activates the immune system.

In vivo expression of innate immunity markers in patients with mycobacterium tuberculosis infection [PDF]
Background Toll-like receptors (TLRs), Coronin-1 and Sp110 are essential factors for the containment of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. The purpose of this study was to investigate the in vivo expression of these molecules at different stages of ...

Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) transform breast cancer therapy, yet resistance limits their durability. Emerging evidence reveals that ADC failure is not solely tumor‐intrinsic but shaped by dynamic tumor–microenvironment interactions that alter drug delivery, processing, and response.

Placental Trophoblast Responses to Porphyromonas gingivalis Mediated by Toll-like Receptor-2 and -4
Trophoblast participates in preventing allorecognition and controlling pathogens that compromise fetal wellbeing. Toll-like receptors recognize conserved sequences on the pathogens surface and trigger effector cell functions.

Previous studies showed that Trichinella spiralis galectin (Tsgal) facilitates larval invasion of intestinal epithelium cells (IECs). However, IEC proteins binding with Tsgal were not identified, and the mechanism by which Tsgal promotes larval invasion ...
