Metastatic chondrosarcoma is a bone malignancy not responsive to conventional therapies; new approaches and therapies are urgently needed. We have previously reported that mTORC1 inhibitor, antitumorigenic cytostatic proline rich polypeptide 1 (PRP-1 ...

Abstract Myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDSs) are clonal disorders characterized by ineffective hematopoiesis, dysplasia, and a risk of transformation into acute myeloid leukemia. MDS is also associated with a higher incidence of osteoporosis, suggesting a complex interplay between hematopoiesis, the bone marrow (BM) microenvironment, and bone homeostasis.

We present the first high‐quality annotated genome of Pinna rudis and an updated genome assembly for Pinna nobilis, two Mediterranean fan mussel species differentially affected by mass mortality events. Comparative genomic analyses of gene sets associated with the “defensome” show that these genes are largely functionally conserved between the two ...

SNPs in toll-like receptor (TLR) genes as new genetic alterations associated with congenital toxoplasmosis? [PDF]
Nearly 40 % of pregnant women are infected with Toxoplasma gondii. Primary infections in pregnant women result, in approximately 30–50 % of patients, in transmission of T.

Ureaplasma parvum lipoproteins, including MB antigen, activate NF-κB through TLR1, TLR2 and TLR6 [PDF]
Ureaplasma species (Ureaplasma parvum and Ureaplasma urealyticum) are commonly isolated pathogens from the female reproductive tract and are associated with perinatal diseases in humans. Inappropriate induction of inflammatory responses may be involved in the occurrence of such diseases; however, pathogenic agents that induce the inflammatory response ...

TLR-dependent control of Francisella tularensis infection and host inflammatory responses. [PDF]
BACKGROUND:Francisella tularensis is the causative agent of tularemia and is classified as a Category A select agent. Recent studies have implicated TLR2 as a critical element in the host protective response to F.

Lung organoids as a human system for Mycobacteria infection modeling and drug testing
Mycobacterial infections, including tuberculosis (TB) and infections by nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), are still public health issues. In 2023, TB caused 1.25 million deaths, while NTM remain a clinical challenge for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF).
