The Turkey Ig-like receptor family: identification, expression and function. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The chicken leukocyte receptor complex located on microchromosome 31 encodes the chicken Ig-like receptors (CHIR), a vastly expanded gene family which can be further divided into three subgroups: activating CHIR-A, bifunctional CHIR-AB and inhibitory ...

TLR-2 and TLR-4 expression in monocytes of newborns with late-onset sepsis

open access: yesJornal de Pediatria, 2014
Objective: To analyze toll-like receptor (TLR)-2 and TLR-4 expression in monocytes of newborns with late-onset sepsis. Methods: This prospective study included 27 full-term newborns aged 8 to 29 days, with clinical and laboratory diagnosis of late-onset ...

Advancing Human Skin Equivalents: The Crucial Role of Neurovascular Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses the importance of integrating vascular and peripheral nerve systems into human skin equivalents (HSEs) to better recapitulate native skin physiology. Recent advances in vascularized, innervated, and neurovascularized HSEs are highlighted, together with emerging bioengineering strategies, current challenges, and future ...

Lupeol alleviates coxsackievirus B3-induced viral myocarditis in mice via downregulating toll-like receptor 4

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2020
Objectives To investigate the effect of lupeol in a mouse model of viral myocarditis induced by coxsackie virus B3 (CVB3). Methods Mice were separated into controls (DMEM, n  = 20) and CVB3 infected groups (i.e., untreated CVB3 [ n  = 40]; CVB3 + lupeol ...

Interleukin-6 via Toll-Like Receptor 3 Signaling Attenuates the Expression of Proinflammatory Chemokines in Human Podocytes

open access: yesKidney & Blood Pressure Research, 2021
Background: Although toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) signaling is involved in the development of certain chronic kidney diseases, the specific molecular mechanisms underlying inflammatory reactions via activation of TLR3 signaling in human podocytes remain ...

Ionizable Lipid‐Dependent Optimization of Steroid Lipid Nanoparticles With Tunable Immunomodulatory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel engineering strategy that establishes material design principles for incorporating anti‐inflammatory steroids into lipid nanoparticles to reduce LNP‐induced inflammation while retaining mRNA delivery. Results are validated in vitro and in three animal models of inflammation and autoimmunity in vivo.

Toll-like Receptor 2 Activation Promotes Tumor Dendritic Cell Dysfunction by Regulating IL-6 and IL-10 Receptor Signaling

open access: yesCell Reports, 2015
Although dendritic cell (DC) dysfunction in cancer is a well-recognized consequence of cancer-associated inflammation that contributes to immune evasion, the mechanisms that drive this process remain elusive.

Immunomodulation by semi-mature dendritic cells: A novel role of Toll-like receptors and interleukin-6

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2010
Dendritic cells (DCs) are key players in activation of the adaptive immune system by their ability of antigen presentation to and priming of T cells. An increasing body of evidence suggests that DCs may also play an important role in induction of tolerance, predominantly by induction of regulatory T cells (T(reg)).
