Multivalent, Stabilized Mannose‐6‐Phosphates for the Targeted Delivery of Toll‐Like Receptor Ligands and Peptide Antigens

open access: yesChemBioChem, 2020
AbstractMannose‐6‐phosphate (M6P) is recognized by the mannose‐6‐phosphate receptor and plays an important role in the transport of cargo to the endosomes, making it an attractive tool to improve endosomal trafficking of vaccines. We describe herein the assembly of peptide antigen conjugates carrying clusters of mannose‐6‐C‐phosphonates (M6Po).

Innate Immunocompetent hiPSC‐Derived Neurospheroids Capture Early CNS Responses to rAAV

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Knowledge of human CNS immune responses to AAV‐based gene therapies remains limited due to the lack of immune‐competent human models. Here, a hiPSC‐derived 3D neuroimmune platform integrating neurospheroids and microglia is established using stirred‐tank bioreactors.

Candida albicans infection suppresses lipopolysaccharide or Pseudomonas aeruginosa stimulated murine bone marrow derived macrophage (BMDM) responses

open access: yesScientific Reports
Candida albicans is an opportunistic human pathogen, that commonly causes localised infection of mucosal surfaces. Candida can also cause systemic infections, which remain difficult to treat and have a high risk of mortality.

The Characterization of a New AG-II-like Glycoprotein from Cynanchum thesioides (Freyn) K. Schum and Its Immunostimulatory Activity Through Activation of TLR4/9-Mediated MAPK/NF-κB Signaling Pathways

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
The structural and immunomodulatory properties of arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) from edible medicinal plants remain largely unexplored. Here, A homogenous AG-II-like arabinogalactan protein (CTSP-W2, 9862 Da) was isolated from Cynanchum thesioides via ...

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Cigarette smoke regulates the expression of TLR4 and IL-8 production by human macrophages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are present on monocytes and alveolar macrophages that form the first line of defense against inhaled particles.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells and associated events in urethane-induced lung cancer

open access: yesClinics, 2013
OBJECTIVES: Myeloid-derived suppressor cells contribute to the immunosuppressive microenvironment during tumor development and limit the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy.

Chiral Nanoparticles Suppress Inflammatory Infiltration to Promote Extracellular Matrix Remodeling for Ectopia Lentis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
L‐cysteine‐configured chiral polyurethane nanoparticles suppress ocular inflammation and reduce extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation in ectopia lentis by regulating macrophages polarization and inhibiting nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway. By promoting zonular fiber‐associated protein restoration and tissue repair, this minimally invasive ...

Novel mutations in the toll like receptor genes cause hyporesponsiveness to Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Toll like receptors play a central role in the recognition of pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). Mutations in TLR1, TLR2 and TLR4 genes may change the PAMP reorganization ability which causes altered responsiveness to the bacterial pathogens.

Common Variants of TLR1 Associate with Organ Dysfunction and Sustained Pro- Inflammatory Responses during Sepsis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are critical components for host pathogen recognition and variants in genes participating in this response influence susceptibility to infections.
