The Application of Single Use Bioreactors for the Production of a Carotenoids Mix, Mainly Torularhodin [PDF]

open access: yesRevista de Chimie, 2019
The lab scale CellMaker Single Use Bioreactor made by Cellexus and BIOSTAT CultiBagRM Single Use Bioreactor made by Sartorius were tested versus a conventional Bioengineering reactor in order to increase the carotenoidic pigments concentration, mainly torularhodin concentration.

2-Hydroxytorularhodin, a New Xanthophyll from the Red Yeast Sporobolomyces coprosmae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A new hydroxylated carotenoic acid was isolated from the red yeast Sporobolomlyces coprosinae and unambiguously identified as 2-hydroxytorularhodin (1), i.e., (all-E)-3',4'-didehydro-2-hydroxy-beta-psi-carotcn-16'-oic acid, by application of extensive 1D

Small Extracellular Vesicle‐Derived Nicotinamide Phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) Induces Acyl‐Coenzyme A Synthetase SLC27A4‐Mediated Glycolysis to Promote Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2025.
NAMPT delivered by metastatic HCC cells‐derived sEV upregulates SLC27A4 expression via TLR4/NF‐кB dependent pathway. SLC27A4 acts as an acyl‐CoA synthetase and increases the level of intracellular TG, leading to DHAP‐mediated transition between lipogenesis and glycolysis.

Protic Ionic Liquids as Cell-Disrupting Agents for the Recovery of Intracellular Carotenoids from Yeast Rhodotorula glutinis CCT-2186 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Rhodotorula glutinis (R. glutinis) yeasts are natural sources of intracellular carotenoids such as β-carotene, torularhodin, and torulene. Since these yeasts are constituted by a rigid cell-wall structure, the use of energy-saving and high-efficiency ...

Effects of Rhodotorula mucilaginosa on Growth, Antioxidant, and Immune Function, and Toll/Imd and JAK‐STAT Signaling Pathways in Red Claw Crayfish (Cherax quadricanatus)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In aquaculture, the use of probiotics to improve growth, immunity, and stress resistance in crustaceans has gained increasing attention. This study examined the effects of incorporating different levels of Rhodotorula mucilaginosa (0.0, 0.1, 1.0, and 10.0 g/kg) into the diet on growth performance, antioxidant capacity (AOC), immune function, Toll/Imd ...

Correlation between lipid and carotenoid synthesis in torularhodin-producing Rhodotorula glutinis

open access: yesAnnals of Microbiology, 2017
The oleaginous red yeast Rhodotorula glutinis produces carotenoid pigments, especially torularhodin and β-carotene, in significant amounts. We have analyzed in detail carotenoid and lipid biosynthesis in a torularhodin-producing strain of R. glutinis cultivated at different carbon:nitrogen (C/N) ratios (20:1, 50:1, 70:1, and 100:1). When the strain was

Rhodotorula mucilaginosa C2.5t1 Modulates Carotenoid Content and CAR Genes Transcript Levels to Counteract the Pro-Oxidant Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2019
In order to contribute to the elucidation of the biological role of carotenoids, the cellular response to hydrogen peroxide was analyzed in the red yeast R. mucilaginosa.

Isolation of Carotenoid-producing Yeasts from an Alpine Glacier

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2014
Cold-adapted yeasts are increasingly being isolated from glacial environments, including Arctic, Antarctic, and mountain glaciers. Psychrophilic yeast isolates mostly belong to Basidiomycota phylum, such as Cryptococcus, Mrakia, and Rhodotorula, and ...
