Total Dietary Antioxidant Capacity and Longitudinal Trajectories of Body Composition

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2020
Although there is some evidence that total dietary antioxidant capacity (TDAC) is inversely associated with the presence of obesity, no longitudinal studies have been performed investigating the effect of TDAC on comprehensive measures of body ...

Role of oxidant-antioxidant balance on incidence of unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion at first trimester of pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة جامعة الانبار للعلوم الصرفة, 2017
The present study was aimed to investigate one of the causes for unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion at first trimester of pregnancy by determining the levels of Oxidative stress (Malondialdehyde) and determine the levels of Antioxidant defense ...

Lipid Peroxidation and Antioxidant Status in Patients with Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma: A Case-Control Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Introduction: Oxidative stress or oxidant/antioxidant imbalance has a crucial role in the pathogenesis of some diseases like cancer. Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) originates in the thyroid parafollicular cells and includes 3-4% of the malignant ...

Oxidative Stress and Total Antioxidant Capacity in Rheumatoid Arthritis.

open access: yesمجلة كلية الطب, 2014
Back ground:-Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic disease characterized by progressive, erosive  and chronic poly arthritis, where cellular proliferation of the synoviocytes and neo-angiogenesis leads to formation of pannus which destroys the ...

Traumatic Brain Injury Patients Mortality and Serum Total Antioxidant Capacity

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2020
Objective: Oxidation is involved in secondary brain injury after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Increased concentrations of total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in blood at the time of admission for TBI have been found in non-surviving patients.

Antioxidants from Diet and Supplements in relation to Cardiovascular Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Many epidemiological studies have reported an inverse association between fruit and vegetable consumption and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Because fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants they were hypothesized to be one the factors responsible ...

Hormonal Regulation of Total Antioxidant Capacity in Seminal Plasma [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Andrology, 2009
ABSTRACT: Infertility is associated with oxidative stress, normally counterbalanced by different antioxidant systems. In order to explore the hormonal control of seminal plasma total antioxidant capacity (TAC) we evaluated TAC and hormone patterns in a group of unselected infertile patients and control subjects. One hundred and ten infertile patients (

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
