Effect of toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 on chicken embryos [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1985
Staphylococcus aureus strains associated with toxic shock syndrome produce toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 (TSST1). This toxin has a variety of biological effects, including enhanced lethality in rabbits in the presence of sublethal amounts of lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Local Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Signaling Mediates the Systemic Pathogenic Effects of Staphylococcus aureus Toxic Shock Syndrome. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Secreted factors of Staphylococcus aureus can activate host signaling from the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). The superantigen toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) contributes to mucosal cytokine production through a disintegrin and ...

Two cases analysis of streptococcal toxin shock syndrome and necrotizing fasciitis caused by streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yes生物医学转化, 2023
Objective To explore the therapeutic method of streptococcal toxin shock syndrome and necrotizing fasciitis caused by streptococcus pyogenes. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 2 cases of streptococcus pyogenes infection, summarize the treatment ...

In Silico Evaluation of a Mutant Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) of Staphylococcus aureus as a Putative Vaccine Candidate [PDF]

open access: yesVaccine Research, 2020
Introduction: The development of a vaccine against Staphylococcus aureus has proven to be much more difficult than expected. In this study, we considered and analyzed a mutant Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) as a potential vaccine candidate ...

Characterization of Staphylococcus aureus Enterotoxin L [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Staphylococcus aureus causes a wide variety of diseases. Major virulence factors of this organism include enterotoxins (SEs) that cause both food poisoning and toxic shock syndrome.

Targeted Proteomics Analysis of Staphylococcal Superantigenic Toxins in Menstrual Fluid from Women with Menstrual Toxic Shock Syndrome (mTSS)

open access: yesToxins, 2022
Menstrual toxic shock syndrome (mTSS) is a rare life-threatening febrile illness that occurs in women using intravaginal menstrual protection. It is caused by toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 (TSST-1) produced by Staphylococcus aureus, triggering a sudden ...

Detection of Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 among Children Undergoing Surgical Operations

open access: yesمجلة كلية الطب, 2017
Background: Toxic-shock syndrome (TSS) is an acute onset; multiorgan disease caused mainly by Toxic-shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) producing Staphylococcus aureus strains.Testing for TSST-1 or anti-TSST-1 antibodies in the clinical setting may help to ...

A rabbit model of toxic shock syndrome that uses a constant, subcutaneous infusion of toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1987
We have developed a rabbit model of toxic shock syndrome that uses a subcutaneous infusion pump to administer toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 (TSST-1). A dose of 150 micrograms, infused at a constant rate over a period of 7 days, resulted in a characteristic illness highlighted by fever, conjunctival hyperemia, cachexia, and lethargy.

Waterhouse friderichsen syndrome in a case of staphylococcal toxic shock syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Critical Care, 2016
Staphylococcal toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a rare and potentially fatal multi system dysfunction. The syndrome occurs primarily due to TSS Toxin-1 (TSS-1) liberated by Staphylococcus aureus (SA).

Multiplex PCR for Detection of Exfoliative Toxins, and Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin 1 Genes in MRSA Strains of Clinical Staphylococcus aureus Isolates

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Pure Science, 2023
This research approaches to investigate toxin gene content of the methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains that are clinically collected from human skin infection cases by performing multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique ...
