Abstract Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) are cell‐derived vesicles evolving as important elements involved in all stages of cancers. sEVs bear unique protein signatures that may serve as biomarkers. Pancreatic cancer (PC) records a very poor survival rate owing to its late diagnosis and several cancer cell‐derived proteins have been reported as ...

Identification of claudin-4 as a marker highly overexpressed in both primary and metastatic prostate cancer [PDF]
In the quest for markers of expression and progression for prostate cancer (PCa), the majority of studies have focussed on molecular data exclusively from primary tumours.

AIDPI is a robust biomarker for stratifying high‐risk OSA patients characterized by dysregulated cholesterol homeostasis, and SQLE is a metabolic vulnerability of these patients. Silencing SQLE impedes OSA by reducing cholesterol and inhibiting the FAK/PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway.

Generation and characterisation of two D2A1 mammary cancer sublines to model spontaneous and experimental metastasis in a syngeneic BALB/c host [PDF]
Studying the complex mechanisms underlying breast cancer metastasis and therapy response necessitates relevant in vivo models, particularly syngeneic models with an intact immune system.

Stronger inflammatory/cytotoxic T cell response in women identified by microarray analysis [PDF]
Women develop chronic inflammatory autoimmune diseases like lupus more often than men. The mechanisms causing the increased susceptibility are incompletely understood, although estrogen is believed to contribute.

Inter-individual variation in DNA repair capacity: A need for multi-pathway functional assays to promote translational DNA repair research [PDF]
Why does a constant barrage of DNA damage lead to disease in some individuals, while others remain healthy? This article surveys current work addressing the implications of inter-individual variation in DNA repair capacity for human health, and discusses

Proteomic analysis of human oral verrucous carcinoma [PDF]
This study is about proteomic analysis of oral verrucous carcinoma (OVC). The total proteins obtained from tumour and adjacent normal oral mucosa of patients with OVC and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) were separated with two dimensional ...

Tumor protein D52 (TPD52): A novel B-cell/plasma-cell molecule with unique expression pattern and Ca2+-dependent association with annexin VI [PDF]
We generated a murine monoclonal antibody (B28p) detecting an antigenic determinant shared by the immunoglobulin superfamily receptor translocation-associated 1 (IRTA1) receptor (the immunogen used to raise B28p) and an unrelated 28-kDa protein that was ...
