Activation of transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 by eugenol

Neuroscience, 2014
Eugenol is a bioactive plant extract used as an analgesic agent in dentistry. The structural similarity of eugenol to cinnamaldehyde, an active ligand for transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), suggests that eugenol might produce its effect via TRPA1, in addition to TRPV1 as we reported previously.

Modulation of Transient Receptor Vanilloid 1 Activity by Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1

Molecular Pharmacology, 2014
Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) is a nonselective ligand-gated cation channel responding to noxious heat, protons, and chemicals such as capsaicin. TRPV1 is expressed in sensory neurons and plays a critical role in pain associated with tissue injury, inflammation, and nerve lesions.

Transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 mediates chronic pancreatitis pain in mice

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology - Renal Physiology, 2013
Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a devastating disease characterized by persistent and uncontrolled abdominal pain. Our lack of understanding is partially due to the lack of experimental models that mimic the human disease and also to the lack of validated behavioral measures of visceral pain.

Activation of transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 by hydrogen peroxide

European Journal of Neuroscience, 2008
AbstractHydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which is contained in industrial products, is also generated within cells. H2O2 causes pain but it has not been elucidated how it activates sensory neurons in the pain pathway. Here we show that transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), expressed by sensory neurons in the pain pathway, is a receptor for H2O2 ...

Upregulation of transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) but not transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) during primary tooth carious progression

Journal of Oral Biosciences, 2023
To quantify the changes in Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) and Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) expression throughout the process of inflammation induced by caries.Forty primary teeth were obtained from children requiring dental extractions under local or general anesthesia.
