TRPA1 gene polymorphisms and childhood asthma. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Animal data have suggested that the transient receptor potential ankyrin-1 (TRPA1) ion channel plays a key role in promoting airway inflammation in asthma and may mediate effects of paracetamol on asthma, yet confirmatory human data are ...

High concentrations of morphine sensitize and activate mouse dorsal root ganglia via TRPV1 and TRPA1 receptors. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Morphine and its derivatives are key drugs in pain control. Despite its well-known analgesic properties morphine at high concentrations may be proalgesic.

A compounded amitriptyline 10% plus lidocaine 2% mucoadhesive gel was associated with substantial pain improvement and favourable tolerability in adults with post‐traumatic trigeminal neuropathic pain (PTNP). These findings support targeted mucosal delivery as a promising practical local option and a potential medication‐sparing strategy, particularly ...

Transient activation of dopaminergic neurons during development modulates visual responsiveness, locomotion and brain activity in a dopamine ontogeny model of schizophrenia [PDF]
It has been observed that certain developmental environmental risk factors for schizophrenia when modeled in rodents alter the trajectory of dopaminergic development, leading to persistent behavioural changes in adults. This has recently been articulated

Effects of Electroacupuncture at ST36 on Visceral Pain and Inflammatory Markers in IBS Rats
Electroacupuncture (EA) at ST36 significantly reduced visceral pain and colonic inflammation in IBS model rats. EA increased pain thresholds, lowered AWR scores, and downregulated key inflammatory mediators (IL‐1β, IL‐6, TNF‐α, TRPV1, NF‐κB). These findings highlight ST36‐targeted EA as a promising therapeutic strategy for IBS visceral hypersensitivity

TRPA1: irritant detector of the airways
The respiratory tract is innervated by primary afferent sensory neurons that respond to mechanical and chemical stimuli (Taylor-Clark & Undem, 2006). The majority of these neurons are unmyelinated C-fibres that respond to noxious chemicals, such as reactive oxygen species (ROS), the main irritants of tear gas, air pollution and burning vegetation ...

Vascular endothelial growth factor-A165b prevents diabetic neuropathic pain and sensory neuronal degeneration [PDF]
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy affects up to half of diabetic patients. This neuronal damage leads to sensory disturbances, including allodynia and hyperalgesia.

ABSTRACT Equine melanocytic neoplasms (EMN) are aggressive tumours characterised by high metastatic potential and limited therapeutic options available. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying their progression remain poorly understood. This study therefore presents the integrative phosphoproteomic analysis of EMN tissue, with the aim of ...
