A Multifaceted Approach Reveals Complex Genomic Mediation of White‐Nose Syndrome Adaptative Response in the Little Brown Bat (Myotis lucifugus)

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 18, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Novel pathogens have become a major challenge faced by wildlife in the Anthropocene. White‐nose syndrome (WNS) has decimated bat populations across North America over the last two decades. Demographic and physiological evidence of adaptation in one heavily affected species, Myotis lucifugus, has prompted multiple attempts to delineate the ...

TRPM2 ION CHANNEL REGULATES CANCER CELL SURVIVAL IN A CALCIUM-DEPENDENT MANNER

open access: yes, 2018
Since the late 1990s, TRPM2 ion channels have been broadly studied in various cancer types. The positive effect of TRPM2 expression on cancer cell viability has been associated with reduced cancer patient survival.

Cell surface expression of TRPM2 variants.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) Western blots were performed on two different membrane fractions of HEK-293 cells transfected with a TRPM2 variant and probed with a commercially available anti-TRPM2 antibody. Mock-transfected cells were used as negative control.

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 8, Page 1477-1490, August 2026.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

TRPM2 Channels: A Potential Therapeutic Target in Melanoma?

open access: yes, 2023
The transient receptor potential, the melastatin (TRPM) subfamily, which consists of eight known members, appears to have significant importance in melanoma progression, treatment, and prognosis.

PDIA6–SCD1 Axis Rewires Lipid Metabolism to Drive Gastric Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 48, 28 August 2026.
Protein disulfide isomerase A6 (PDIA6) is identified as an oncogenic driver in gastric cancer. PDIA6 directly binds and stabilizes SCD1 by limiting its ubiquitin–proteasome‐mediated degradation, thereby sustaining monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA)‐enriched lipid homeostasis and lipid metabolic reprogramming.

New Insights Into Immunomodulatory Strategies for Drug Hypersensitivity Reactions: An EAACI Task Force Report

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Drug hypersensitivity reactions (DHRs) are a global health concern and remain challenging to investigate owing to the heterogeneity of endotypes and phenotypes, as well as the lack of standardized biomarkers. Until recently, strict drug avoidance was the only management strategy for severe DHRs.

Dexmedetomidine protects against ischemia and reperfusion-induced kidney injury in rats by inhibiting the expression of TRPM2 and TRPA1 channels [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences
Objective(s): Renal ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury is a potentially serious issue encountered during various medical and surgical procedures. This condition is clinically significant because of its high incidence and mortality rate. In this study,

Ionic signalling and mitochondrial dynamics

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Oncology, 2017
In age-related diseases, rise in intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes fragmentation of mitochondrial network. Our recent study demonstrated that ROS activation of TRPM2 (transient receptor potential melastatin-2) channels triggers lysosomal

Transient receptor potential melastatin 2 channels are overexpressed in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome patients

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2019
Background Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is hallmarked by a significant reduction in natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity, a mechanism tightly regulated by calcium (Ca2+).
