"Trypanosoma cruzi" : effect of pH on in vitro formation of metacyclic trypomastigotes
Acta tropica, 1983The formation of metacyclic trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi in cultures initiated by freshly isolated bloodstream trypomastigotes was studied using three strains of parasites (Peru, CL, and Y) and two different media (L-15 and Grace's medium). Serum (10% newborn calf serum) and various sugars were required for in vitro development of metacyclic ...

Antiserum to LPPG, a lipopeptidophosphoglycan originally described on the surface of Trypanosoma cruzi epimastigotes of the Y strain, and antibodies to furanoic galactose (galf) were obtained in rabbits. A micromethod for the extraction and purification of LPPG from a limited amount of parasites is described.

Separation of amastigotes and trypomastigotes ofTrypanosoma cruzi from cultured cells
Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde Parasitology Research, 1983A method is described for the isolation and purification of trypomastigotes and amastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi from cell cultures. L-A9, a transformed fibroblast cell line, and J774G8, a macrophage-like cell line of tumor origin, were used. Both cell lines were infected with bloodstream trypomastigotes of T.

Conformation of a Single Mitochondrion in the Trypomastigote Stage of Trypanosoma cruzi
The Journal of Parasitology, 1983embryo exhibits a degree of innate resistance against T. lewisi and T. musculi that is based upon the physiological state of the experimental host. Resistance was abrogated when the embryo was incubated at a suboptimal 33 C temperature rather than at 37 C. Exposure to the lower temperature could be expected to alter any of several physiological factors

Production of Monoclonal Antibodies to Metacyclic Trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi
Hybridoma, 1986Monoclonal antibodies were produced and characterized to the metacyclic trypomastigotes stage of Trypanosoma cruzi. All the monoclonal antibodies (GR-12C/5; GR-P2B/5; GR-F2B/1; GR-J2C/6; GR-E6B/3; GR-A5B/5) also recognized antigens of epimastigotes of T. cruzi.

Trypanosoma cruzi: Early resistance induced by culture-derived trypomastigotes
Experimental Parasitology, 1991Previous observations in this laboratory showed that injection of culture-derived trypomastigotes (CT), in CBA/J mice, induced an early increased resistance that was detected 24-72 hr after antigen injection and permitted mice to survive a challenge of 10(5) blood trypomastigotes (BT) corresponding to 2000 LD50%.

Nitric oxide affects trypomastigote to amastigote differentiation in Trypanosoma cruzi
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 2014Trypanosoma cruzi is the etiologic agent of Chagas disease. Two main distinct forms are present in the mammalian host: trypomastigote, an infective form, and the amastigote, a typical replicative form. Succeeding the host cell invasion, trypomastigotes differentiate to amastigotes, a process known as amastigogenesis. Amastigogenesis is characterized by

Binding of antibody and resistance to lysis of trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi
Parasite Immunology, 1992Summary Epimastigote forms of Trypanosoma cruzi are readily lysed by complement via the alternative pathway. Neither fibroblast‐derived trypomastigotes nor blood‐form trypomastigotes are lysed by complement alone and few (less than 30% of the Brazil strain) are lysed in the presence of parasite‐specific antibody and complement.

Epimastigotes and trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi revealed by scanning electron microscopy.
Biken journal, 1975Epimastigotes and trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi were observed by scanning electron microscopy. These two forms could easily be differentiated by examination of the undulating membrane and kinetoplast. Subpellicular microtubules form parallel helices in epimastigotes while they are arranged parallel to the logitudinal axis in trypomastigotes ...
