Collagen type IV stimulates an increase in intracellular Ca2+ in pancreatic acinar cells via activation of phospholipase C [PDF]

open access: bronzeBiochemical Journal, 1994
Intracellular Ca2+ responses to extracellular matrix molecules were studied in suspensions of pancreatic acinar cells loaded with Fura-2. Collagen type I, laminin, fibrinogen and fibronectin were unable to raise cytosolic free Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i), whereas collagen type IV, at concentrations from 5 to 50 micrograms/ml, significantly increased ...

Properties of Clostridium Perfringens (Welch II) Type-A  -Toxin (Phospholipase c) Purified By Electrofocusing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1974
SUMMARY Clostridium perfringens type-A α-toxin (phospholipase C) was purified on a preparative scale by a simple, rapid, two-stage procedure involving precipitation of culture-supernatant fluids with ammonium sulphate at 35 to 50% saturation, followed by isoelectric focusing in a pH 4·6 gradient.

Isolation and characterization of a γ-type phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PLC-γ2) [PDF]

open access: bronzeBiochemical Journal, 1990
A novel bovine spleen phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PLC) has been identified with respect to immunoreactivity with four independent antibodies against each of the PLC isoenzymes, and purified to near homogeneity by sequential column chromatography.

Comparison of Protein Variation in Protobothrops mucrosquamatus Venom between Northern and Southeast Taiwan and Association with Human Envenoming Effects

open access: yesToxins, 2022
Reports of bite from Protobothrops mucrosquamatus (Pmu) are frequent in Taiwan, and its wide-spread distribution and diverse habitats drove us to investigate its envenoming effects and relevant venom variations.

The action of human and rabbit serum phospholipase A2 on Escherichia coli phospholipids.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1980
We have compared the properties of phospholipase A (E.C. 3.1.1.4) activity in whole human and rabbit serum toward the phospholipids of Escherichia coli. Using as substrate E.

Isolation of cDNAs encoding typical and novel types of phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C from the moss Physcomitrella patens [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of Experimental Botany, 2004
Two cDNAs encoding proteins, PpPLC1 and PpPLC2, with catalytic and C2 domains conserved in plant phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PI-PLC) were isolated from Physcomitrella patens. The N domain, which has been identified in Arabidopsis PI-PLCs as an EF hand-like domain, was found in both isoforms, although that in PpPLC2 was a split type.

Inhibition of c-fos transcription and phosphorylation of the serum response factor by an inhibitor of phospholipase C-type reactions. [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 1990
Phospholipase C activity is necessary for transcriptional c-fos activation by providing diacylglycerol as an activator of protein kinase C. We found that transcriptional activation of c-fos and the phosphorylation of its major transcription factor were inhibited by tricyclodecan-9-yl xanthogenate, which blocks phospholipase C-type reactions ...

Phenotypes of Pain Behavior in Phospholipase C-Related but Catalytically Inactive Protein Type 1 Knockout Mice [PDF]

open access: goldMolecular Pain, 2011
Phospholipase C-related inactive protein (PRIP) plays important roles in trafficking to the plasma membrane of GABAA receptor, which is involved in the dominant inhibitory neurotransmission in the spinal cord and plays an important role in nociceptive transmission. However, the role of PRIP in pain sensation remains unknown.

Type VI secretion system : secretion by a contractile nanomachine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The type VI secretion systems (T6SS) are present in about a quarter of all Gram-negative bacteria. Several key components of T6SS are evolutionarily related to components of contractile nanomachines such as phages and R-type pyocins. The T6SS assembly is
