Puberty in male collared peccary (Pecari tajacu) determined by quantitative analysis of spermatogenic cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Estudos biológicos são necessários para o manejo da vida silvestre em cativeiro, e o conhecimento da reprodução é um dos aspectos importantes para o aumento da produção.

The absence of both RIBC1 and RIBC2 induces decreased sperm motility and litter size in male mice

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 545-554, February 2026.
Abstract Background RIBC1 (RIB43A domain with coiled‐coils 1) and RIBC2 (RIB43A domain with coiled‐coils 2) are homolog proteins of RIB43a which is localized to microtubules in the cilia and flagella of unicellular organisms. Cryo‐electron microscopy and artificial intelligence studies showed that RIBC1 and RIBC2 are microtubule inner proteins (MIPs ...

The Transcriptional Cell Atlas of Testis Development in Sheep at Pre-Sexual Maturity

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology, 2022
Sheep testes undergo a dramatic rate of development with structural changes during pre-sexual maturity, including the proliferation and maturation of somatic niche cells and the initiation of spermatogenesis.

Establishment and optimization of the two‐step induction system for generating primordial germ cell‐like cells from chicken embryonic stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 1, Page 161-177, January 2026.
This study optimizes a two‐step induction system to generate PGCLCs from chicken ESCs. The induced cells express germline markers and migrate to gonads in ovo, offering a novel approach for avian genetic resource conservation. Primordial germ cells (PGCs) are the progenitor cells of sperm and eggs.

Ex Vivo Spatiotemporal Characterization of Spermatogenesis in Mouse Testicular Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 4, 19 January 2026.
To date, in vitro spermatogenesis remains a challenge in reproductive medicine. In this study, Sun et al. developed a promising in vitro strategy to generate testicular organoids that enable germ cells from newborn mice to enter meiosis, complete chromosome recombination and synapsis, and develop into haploid spermatids.

Single-cell transcriptome analysis and in vitro differentiation of testicular cells reveal novel insights into male sterility of the interspecific hybrid cattle-yak

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2023
Background Interspecific hybridization plays vital roles in enriching animal diversity, while male hybrid sterility (MHS) of the offspring commonly suffered from spermatogenic arrest constitutes the postzygotic reproductive isolation.

Analysis of Uncharacterized mKiaa1211 Expression during Mouse Development and Cardiovascular Morphogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mammalian Kiaa1211 and Kiaa1211-like are a homologous pair of uncharacterized, highly conserved genes cloned from fetal and adult brain cDNA libraries.

Exploring the Impact of In Ovo Injection of Flavonoid‐Based Aromatase Inhibitors on Gonadal Histology Differentiation in Ross 308 Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study aimed to evaluate the in ovo injection of nettle extract, mushroom extract and their mixture as natural anti‐aromatase on sex reversal, histological changes in ovaries and testes and carcass characteristics of Ross 308 broiler chickens. Sex differentiation in avian species A completely randomized block design used to allocate 500 fertilized ...

Undifferentiated spermatogonia regulate Cyp26b1 expression through NOTCH signaling and drive germ cell differentiation

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2019
ABSTRACT Cytochrome P450 family 26 subfamily B member 1 (CYP26B1) regulates the concentration of all–trans retinoic acid (RA) and plays a key role in germ cell differentiation by controlling local distribution of RA.

Single-cell transcriptome analyses reveal critical regulators of spermatogonial stem cell fate transitions

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) are the foundation cells for continual spermatogenesis and germline regeneration in mammals. SSC activities reside in the undifferentiated spermatogonial population, and currently, the molecular identities of ...
