Robust Photogeometric Localization over Time for Map-Centric Loop Closure

open access: yes, 2019
Map-centric SLAM is emerging as an alternative of conventional graph-based SLAM for its accuracy and efficiency in long-term mapping problems. However, in map-centric SLAM, the process of loop closure differs from that of conventional SLAM and the result

ProSLAM: Graph SLAM from a Programmer's Perspective

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we present ProSLAM, a lightweight stereo visual SLAM system designed with simplicity in mind. Our work stems from the experience gathered by the authors while teaching SLAM to students and aims at providing a highly modular system that can ...

A comparative evaluation of interest point detectors and local descriptors for visual SLAM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we compare the behavior of different interest points detectors and descriptors under the conditions needed to be used as landmarks in vision-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

Monocular SLAM Supported Object Recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this work, we develop a monocular SLAM-aware object recognition system that is able to achieve considerably stronger recognition performance, as compared to classical object recognition systems that function on a frame-by-frame basis. By incorporating

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

DM-SLAM: A Feature-Based SLAM System for Rigid Dynamic Scenes

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2020
Most Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) methods assume that environments are static. Such a strong assumption limits the application of most visual SLAM systems.

Mobile Robot Localization and Mapping Algorithm Based on the Fusion of Image and Laser Point Cloud

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Given the lack of scale information of the image features detected by the visual SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) algorithm, the accumulation of many features lacking depth information will cause scale blur, which will lead to degradation and

Change it Now: eBay v. MercExchange-Business Method Patent Litigation Reaches Critical Juncture Concerning Remedies for Infringement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Visual simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) as field has been researched for ten years, but with recent advances in mobile performance visual SLAM is entering the consumer market in a completely new way.

H-SLAM: Hybrid direct–indirect visual SLAM

open access: yesRobotics and Autonomous Systems
The recent success of hybrid methods in monocular odometry has led to many attempts to generalize the performance gains to hybrid monocular SLAM. However, most attempts fall short in several respects, with the most prominent issue being the need for two different map representations (local and global maps), with each requiring different ...
