5D Flow MRI Reveals Respiration‐Driven Changes in Blood Flow Energetics in Congenital Heart Disease

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Hemodynamic monitoring is essential for patients with right‐sided congenital heart disease (CHD). Respiration may have an increased impact on pulmonary flow in these patients that cannot be assessed by standard tools including 4D flow MRI. This study uses 5D flow MRI to assess respiratory‐cycle variations in flow energetics in patients

An organophosphorus compound, Vx, selectively inhibits the rat cardiac Na+,K+-ATPase α1 isoform Biochemical basis of the cardiotoxicity of Vx

open access: yes, 1991
Serine-specific reagents, anticholinesterase organophosphorus compounds like Vx provoke, in the micromolar range, digitalis-like ventricular arrythmias of non-cholinergic origin in rodent hearts.

Droplet size spectrum, velocity, angle and flow rate of pulse‐width‐modulated spray nozzles with adjuvants

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Optimizing PWM performance requires not only appropriate duty cycle selection, but also careful choice of adjuvant formulation tailored to each nozzle type. Drift control agents increased droplet size and reduced fine droplets, mitigating PWM‐induced variability. Decreasing the duty cycle consistently narrowed the spray angle.

Evaluation of the Immunomodulatory Effects of C-Vx on the Innate and Adaptive\"Immune\" System:Preliminary Results

open access: yes, 2022
Objectives: In this preliminary study, the in vitro effect of C-Vx in human PBMCs and the in vivo effect of C-Vx in rats were investigated. Methods: The human part was analyzed in PBMCs isolated from healthy subjects.

State-Dependent Inhibition of Nav1.8 Sodium Channels by VX-150 and VX-548

open access: yesMolecular Pharmacology
Nav1.8 sodium channels (Nav1.8) are an attractive therapeutic target for pain because they are prominent in primary pain-sensing neurons with little expression in most other kinds of neurons. Recently, two Nav1.8-targeted compounds, VX-150 and VX-548, have shown efficacy in clinical trials for reducing pain.

Processing Stabilization of Polyolefin Recyclates Using Alditols in Combination With α‐Tocopherol: A Sustainable Alternative to Phosphites

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, EarlyView.
A novel bio‐based stabilizer system significantly improves the quality of polyolefin recyclates during multiple recycling cycles. ABSTRACT This study introduces a novel bio‐based stabilizer system for polyolefin recyclates that combines alditols with small amounts of α‐tocopherol as a sustainable alternative to conventional phosphite additives. The aim

TGF-beta downregulation of VX-809-corrected F508del CFTR in HAECs.

open access: yes, 2014
F508del CFTR homozygous HAECs were grown at air-liquid interface culture for 6 weeks and treated with TGF-beta (10 ng/ml) and/or VX-809 (3 µM) for 48 h prior to Isc measurement.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa Reduces VX-809 Stimulated F508del-CFTR Chloride Secretion by Airway Epithelial Cells.

open access: yes, 2015
P. aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that chronically infects the lungs of 85% of adult patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Previously, we demonstrated that P. aeruginosa reduced wt-CFTR Cl secretion by airway epithelial cells.

The Caspase 1 Inhibitor VX-765 Protects the Isolated Rat Heart via the RISK Pathway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
PURPOSE: Protecting the heart from ischaemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is a major goal in patients presenting with an acute myocardial infarction. Pyroptosis is a novel form of cell death in which caspase 1 is activated and cleaves interleukin 1β.

The State Itself as a Vulnerable Subject? Existential Resilience under International Law

open access: yesThe Modern Law Review, EarlyView.
This paper proposes a new framework for analysis of the law governing State continuity, with particular reference to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) threatened with legal extinction as a result of rising sea‐levels. Prevailing wisdom suggests that if States were to lose their inhabitable land or permanently resident populations, their status ...
