Withanolide C, A chlorinated withanolide from Withania somnifera

Phytochemistry, 1992
Abstract The structure of a new chlorinated withanolide isolated from Withania somnifera chemotype III has been elucidated as 5α-chloro,6β,14α,17β,2Oα F -tetrahydroxy-l-oxo-22R-witha-2,24-dienolide by 1 H and 13 CNMR and chemical ionization mass spectroscopy methods.

Withanolide Y, a withanolide from a hybrid of Withania somnifera

Phytochemistry, 1987
Abstract The structure of a withanolide isolated from the hybrid of Withania somnifera chemotype III (Israel) by Indian I (Delhi) has been elucidated as (20R,22R)-5α,6α-epoxy-7α-17α,20-trihydroxy-1-oxo-witha-2,24-dienolide by X-ray single crystal analysis.

Natural Bioactive New Withanolides

Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2020
Withanolides are a group of highly oxygenated steroids derived from a C28 ergostane skeleton, and have attracted significant scientific interest due to their complex structural features and multiple bioactivities. More than 170 new natural withanolides were isolated and identified in the last 5 years.

Withanolide Artifacts Formed in Methanol

Journal of Natural Products, 2013
Methanol solutions of the main withanolides (6-8) naturally present in Physalis longifolia yielded five artificial withanolides (1-5), including three new compounds (1-3). Withanolides 1 and 2 were identified as intramolecular Michael addition derivatives, while withanolides 3-5 were the result of intermolecular Michael addition.

Withanolides from Jaborosa kurtzii

Journal of Natural Products, 2007
Two new withanolides were isolated and characterized from the aerial parts of Jaborosa kurtzii, namely, jaborosalactone 43 (1), with a spiranoid delta-lactone at C-22, and jaborosalactone 44 (2), a 12-oxowithanolide, which may function as a biosynthetic precursor to 1.

Withanolides from Physalis coztomatl

Phytochemistry, 2015
Six withanolides (1-6), as well as two known withanolides (physachenolide D 7 and withanoside VI 8), were isolated from the aerial parts of Physalis coztomatl (Solanaceae). Structural elucidations of 1-6 were achieved through 2D NMR and other spectroscopic techniques, while the structure of 1 was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis.

Biosynthesis of withanolides in Acnistus breviflorus: biogenetic relationships among the main withanolides

Phytochemistry, 1985
Abstract To excised leaves and 15-day-old seedlings of Acnistus breviflorus sodium [1- 14 C]acetate, [2- 14 C]mevalonolactone and [ 14 C-methyl]methionine were administered in separate experiments. From the absolute incorporation values of withaferin A (1), jaborosalactone A (2) and jaborosalactone D (3) isolated at different times after ...

Withanolides of Acnistus breviflorus

Phytochemistry, 1981
The chemical examination of Acnistus breviflorus afforded nine withanolides, four of which are new and were established as 2,3,24,25-tetrahydro-27-desoxywithaferin A (4β-hydroxy-5β,6β-epoxy-1-oxo-22 R-withanolide), 2,3-dihydro-27-desoxywithaferin A (4β-hydroxy-5β,6β-epoxy-22 R-witha-24-enolide), 5,6-desoxywithaferin A (4β,27-dihydroxy-1-oxo-22 R-witha ...

New withanolides from Mandragora officinarum: First report of withanolides from the Genus Mandragora

Fitoterapia, 2010
Two new withanolides named mandragorolide A (1) and mandragorolide B (2) were isolated from the MeOH extract of the whole plant of Mandragora officinarum of Jordanian origin, along with five known withanolides namely larnaxolide A (3), withanolide B (4), datura lactone 2 (5), withanicandrin (6) and salpichrolide C (7). Compound 3 has been reported only

Withanolides of Datura metel

Phytochemistry, 1992
Abstract The leaves of Datura metel yielded three new withanolides in addition to lycium substance B, previously reported from other Datura species. The structures of the withanolides, clarified by comprehensive spectral analysis, showed features of typical daturalactones as well as of the withanolides of D. metel. p -Hydroxy cinnamic acid amide
