Withanolides of Acnistus breviflorus
Phytochemistry, 1981The chemical examination of Acnistus breviflorus afforded nine withanolides, four of which are new and were established as 2,3,24,25-tetrahydro-27-desoxywithaferin A (4β-hydroxy-5β,6β-epoxy-1-oxo-22 R-withanolide), 2,3-dihydro-27-desoxywithaferin A (4β-hydroxy-5β,6β-epoxy-22 R-witha-24-enolide), 5,6-desoxywithaferin A (4β,27-dihydroxy-1-oxo-22 R-witha ...

Biosynthesis of the triterpenoid withanolides in Withania somnifera
Current Opinion in Plant BiologyAshwagandha (Withania somnifera L. Dunal) is a versatile medicinal plant of Solanaceae family, renowned for its potent therapeutic properties, due to which it is extensively used in Indian traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda. The medicinal properties are attributed to specialized metabolites known as withanolides, which are chemically ...

New withanolides from Mandragora officinarum: First report of withanolides from the Genus Mandragora
Fitoterapia, 2010Two new withanolides named mandragorolide A (1) and mandragorolide B (2) were isolated from the MeOH extract of the whole plant of Mandragora officinarum of Jordanian origin, along with five known withanolides namely larnaxolide A (3), withanolide B (4), datura lactone 2 (5), withanicandrin (6) and salpichrolide C (7). Compound 3 has been reported only

Withanolides from Physalis hispida
Journal of Natural Products, 2014Nine new withanolides (1-9), withahisolides A-I, were isolated along with nine known compounds (10-18) from the aerial parts of Physalis hispida. The structures of 1-9 were elucidated through a variety of spectroscopic techniques, while the structures of 1 and 2 were confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Compounds 1-3 are the first withanolides

Abstract The leaves of Datura metel yielded three new withanolides in addition to lycium substance B, previously reported from other Datura species. The structures of the withanolides, clarified by comprehensive spectral analysis, showed features of typical daturalactones as well as of the withanolides of D. metel. p -Hydroxy cinnamic acid amide

Antiproliferative Withanolides from Jaborosa Riojana
FitoterapiaSix previously undescribed withanolides, of which three had a normal glycosylated skeleton (Jaborosalactones 49-51) and three had a sativolide skeleton (12-O-methyl jaborosalactone 52, jaborosalactone 53, and 12-O-methyl jaborosalactone 53), were isolated from the aerial parts of Jaborosa riojana.

Cytotoxic withanolides from Acnistus arborescens
Phytochemistry, 2002Three cytotoxic withanolides, two with new structures, were isolated from the leaves of Acnistus arborescens and their structures determined by a combination of 1D and 2D NMR, mass spectral, and molecular modeling studies. Dereplication analysis of the ethyl ether extract was useful for evaluating the components showing significant cytotoxic activity.
